Scraping the barrel for saves....

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Scraping the barrel for saves....

Postby Bjz1154 » Tue Mar 12, 2013 5:50 am

I'd like to grab Fujikawa and Parnell after drafting Betancourt and Holland as my only two closers. It is looking more and more likely that Marmol will get traded and Fujikawa has been damn near perfect in ST (I understand it's only ST but he's looking great) and with Frank Squared likely to miss the start of the season Parnell has an opportunity to take the closer's role and run with it. Who should I cut loose for either of both guys? I was thinking Lorenzo Cain and Hyun-Jin Ryu, Cain because he will never touch my lineup unless there is an injury and you can find a few guys like him on the wire as the season progesses. As for Ryu, he showed up to camp out of shape and has been uninspiring thus far and looks like he will lose the #5 spot to Ted Lilly of all people.

I would be fine dropping Cain for Parnell. I would probably hold off dropping Ryu just yet. Still a lot of ST left and I would give him another week or two before kicking him to the curb. Not sure I agree that Marmol will be traded before the season. I see him being dealt at some point but spring training trades don't happen all that often.

Thanks man! You're right it may be too early to cut Ryu loose. He's got good stuff maybe he's having a hard time transitioning to life in the states so I'll give him a little more time.
