Pineda tore his labrum and had surgery a while back...could come back at the start of 2013 or early in the season.
To me, Pineda wasn't equipped to continue pitching the way he pitched. His shoulder was too weak. I think that Pineda can come back and be better than he was (or could have been), comes down to how he rehabs and strengthens his arm, shoulder.
I traded for Pineda before he tore his labrum, more of a throwin (got Sale/Sandoval/K. Jansen/Pineda/Samardzija) for Luebke/A-Rod/Choo/McCarthy)...worked out well.
The guys in my league have dumped certain DL pitchers who have season-ending surgery: Luebke, D. Hudson, Beachy, Hutchison
I know that many pitchers have not been the same with a labrum tear...but I'm thinking about dropping Pineda as I have some upcoming injuries to deal with and need the spot...
...please see article:
http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_ ... etter-everCurt Schilling thinks he can come back from the same injury that Schilling had...and do so in 10 months...Pineda is younger
your thoughts? I suppose I'm looking for a vote on keeping him or dropping him...drop or keep (I can always stash him before the season ends if it makes sense then...I just want to be able to reassess him next spring)
so drop or keep?
