Should I trade an OF?

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Should I trade an OF?

Postby B.J. » Fri May 01, 2009 1:34 pm

I have the luxury of having 5 very good OF on my roster but can only play 4 a night. I am looking to move one of them for an upgrade in another area but my team really has no true needs, although this week my runs, home runs and RBI totals suck. I love what Kemp brings to the team especially in regards to power/speed, Dunn is a pure masher and will help me with home runs but kill my AVG, Holliday is the complete player and in my opinion WILL bounce back, I recently traded Andre Ethier for Alex Rios in a deal that I absolutely could not pass up and feel like Rios is going to FINALLY breakout in '09.

And this brings me to Nelson Cruz, a guy who I feel is a bit of a mystery, mainly because he struggled for so long and at the end of last year and begining of this year finally found his stroke. I'm a big fan of his but would you move him at this time? Hamilton is suffering from that oblique issue which worries me and Ron Washington has Cruz hitting in the 7 spot (idiotic I know).

So my question to you guys is, which one of my OF is most expendable and what should I be looking for in return?

See if you can flip Cruz and Cano for Utley?

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

Very interesting thought, it hadn't crossed my mind to try and get an upgrade at 2B. Utley was a guy I was targeting in the 2nd round of my draft and went the pick before me. I also made a HUGE stink when he was drafted. His owner obviously knows I like him and may be willing to trade him to me. But then again the Utley owner is also the guy who offered me Peralta and Nady for Jimmy Rollins, so we will see

I agree with Grey (implying that your 2B is weakest spot) but I think I'd hold on to Cruz and deal Holliday. I don't have faith in Holliday this season and he brings a bigger brand-name to the bargaining table.

Well that sucks, the Utley owner rejected with no counter offer. Really annoying when people don't give a reason why they pass on the deal.
