Cutting Hanrahan loose. Who to grab?

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Cutting Hanrahan loose. Who to grab?

Postby B.J. » Tue Apr 28, 2009 10:13 am

With Joel Hanrahan blowing another save last night and crushing team's ERA and WHIP all over the world, I have decided I have had it with his crap and cutting. He only gets a few opps a week and when he does it looks like plastic surgery gone wrong ( not my first analogy to use but much more PC than the one I was going to use).

so who I do I grab in his place: D. Fowler, Fukudome, Peralta, Aviles, Barmes (2b, ss, 3b elig), Ian Stewart, Andrew Bailey, Joel Zumaya (DET closer if Rodney falters?), Zach Duke, Wakefield, Jordan Zimmermann, Edwin Jackson, CB Young, J. Upton, Jason Kubel, Nyjer Morgan, Dukes

OF- J. Upton, McCutchen, G. Sizemore UTIL- Fielder
SP- Hanson, J. Weaver RP- Marmol, Hanrahan
P- B. Anderson, T. Lilly, R. Nolasco

Bench- J. Bruce, M. Pineda, R. Romero, Capps, A. Gordon, J. Zimmermann
DL- Greinke, Utley

Can grab Fowler, but I wouldn't drop Hanrahananan. Why are you holding Sandoval on your bench? Is he catcher eligible? If so, trade V-Mart and put him in there.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

Sandoval is C eligible, I put both Sandoval and VMart on the block but only got nibbles.

Then you might have to drop Sandoval. You can't carry two catchers all season clogging up your bench. This is why I say don't draft two catchers.

I just dropped Hanrahan for Rafael Soriano, myself. Soriano might get fewer save opportunities, but as my league also scores holds, the saves and holds combined with his uncrappiness compared to Hanrahan made it a no-brainer. In your situation, I'd pick up either Fowler, Stewart or Dukes, depending on if you need power, speed, or a bit of both. You're obviously in a shallow league, so go for upside. Justin Upton actually has the most upside, but he's still too green this season. Don't waste your time with any of those pitchers, though Krispie Young might also be worth a look.

Still think I shouldn't drop Hanny?

What we have learned so far in this young season is that the hook comes quick in D.C.
