Smoltz + Price

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Smoltz + Price

Postby pwangsta » Wed Apr 08, 2009 11:25 pm

Hey guys. I'm in a 12-team H2H yearly league, standard 5x5 categories, max moves of 60 (of which I've already spent 7).

This is my team as of tomorrow (just added Inge):

C Brandon Inge
1B Derrek Lee
2B Rickie Weeks
3B Miguel Cabrera
SS Jhonny Peralta
OF Carlos Beltran
OF Manny Ramirez
OF Magglio Ordonez
Util Fred Lewis
Bench Mark Reynolds
Bench Matt Wieters
DL Alex Rodriguez

SP Josh Beckett
SP Roy Oswalt
RP Joakim Soria
RP Chad Qualls
P Carlos Villanueva
P Scott Downs
P Matt Cain
Bench Kenshin Kawakami
Bench Max Scherzer
Bench Kelvim Escobar

A team in my league just dropped both David Price and John Smoltz. I'm fairly confident my team can make the playoffs (the Yahoo standard 6 teams get in, so I just need to finish in the top half) despite all the injured players lazing about the roster right now, and as long as that's the case I just need to build a team that can win come playoff time. Looking from that perspective, I think should grab one or both of these guys, since they both project (according to me) as well above average pitchers, despite the additional cost of taking up one or two of my precious transactions.

My question: Should I try grabbing one, both, or neither? And if I should, who should I drop? Thanks.
5x5 h2h, 12 tms

1B: MCab
2B: Zobrist
3B: Arod
SS: Peralta
OF: Beltran
OF: Ordonez
OF: Werth
Util: D. Lee
Bn: Manny, J.D. Drew, Beltre

SP: Beckett, Oswalt, Cain, Scherzer, Meche, Price
RP: Soria, Qualls, Downs
DL: Escobar

You really don't have much room to spare, but Escobar had a slight setback so I'd lose him if he's just on your bench and not on your DL. Then I'd add Price.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.
