In a Yahoo league with a 30 inning minimum for pitchers per week.

My pitching staff currently is...
Peavy
Billingsley
Shields
Cain
J Johnson
Soria (CL)
Broxton (CL)

I'm wondering if I need to add another pitcher to make sure I reach the 30 minimum and Randy Johnson is sitting on the wire.....for the moment. I'd need to drop one of the following...

Shoppach (Sandoval is starting C)
M Reynolds (Aramis/C Davis already on roster)
T Hunter or C Maybin (Matt Kemp/Jay Bruce starters)
Shin Soo Choo (Braun is starting LF)
Theriot (S Drew starting SS)
Fontenot (Jose Lopez starting 2B)

I'm low on speed with my starters so I may want to keep Hunter/Maybin/Theriot.

I have plenty of power with my starters so Shoppach and Reynolds may be expendable.

Fontenot may be expendable too depending on where he bats in the lineup.

Thoughts?

You should reach the 30 minimum no problem. The bigger problem is you have so many hitters that are expendable that actually have value. You shouldn't have a team where you can drop Reynolds. You should trade away some of those guys are pieces you're missing. Anyway, you can drop Fontenot for Johnson if you like.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

Thanks for the answer Grey.

In this 10 teamer a lot of hitters went late. I'll have to wait for the season to start before moving any of these guys because no one's all that interested in trading in pre-season. I was thinking Fontenot too since I'm not sure how much he adds to my bench other than average.....it depends on where he ends up in the lineup.

So you'd sit tight with just 5 SP's and 2 CL's? That should reach 30 every week no problem?

ETA: Holy Crap! Bill James has Randy for 170 innings, 181 K's, and an ERA of 3.23.

Now I have a follow up question to this same situation. I was planning on keeping my roster as is but now realize the guy I go H2H with in the 1st week has both Ervin Santana and David Price on his roster. When he reads the news that Price has been moved down, and that Santana's hitting the DL, he'll go looking for a SP.

At the very top of the list is Randy Johnson.....a no brainer pick up for the guy. Now I need to consider picking up Johnson just to block opponents.

Does dropping Fontenot for Johnson make more sense now?

Sure, kick Fontenot to the curb.
