5 Keepers -- My roster needs a fortune teller

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

5 Keepers -- My roster needs a fortune teller

Postby Seisto » Thu Mar 05, 2009 5:12 pm

Having a slight breakdown -- I'm exactly one week from my keepers deadline and having trouble with what I see as a tough decision, though some might think it's an easy one.

Standard head-to-head 5x5 mixed league. We keep 5 players, either 3 hitters and 2 pitchers or vice versa.

My roster to choose from is:

HITTERS
Beltran
Cantu
Shin-Soo choo
Doumit
A. Gonzalez
Rollins
Rios
Sandoval
Span
Uggla
Chris Young

PITCHERS
Hamels
Harang
Kuroda
Maddux
Myers
K-Rod (RP)
Valverde (RP)
Wakefield
Wellemeyer
B. Wilson (RP)

Not a bad roster, thanks to the fine gentlemen of Razzball, I might add. League runner up due to ERA being the championship tiebreaker which still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

NOW, the question is who do I keep? I'm thinking

Rollins
Beltran
A. Gonzalez

Hamels
K-Rod

I don't want to keep K-Rod, he will likely save the kinder side of 40 but that's nothing to go nuts for. The problem is I don't have any starting options -- I can't justify keeping Aaron Harang.

The biggest problem are the bats. Rollins and Beltran are locks but I'm up in the air especially between Gonzalez and Rios, possibly even Uggla in that group.

What do you guys think? Any suggestions on my top 5 keepers would be a big help .. I feel like I'm missing something obvious but then realize it's kind of a tough decision. Cust Kayin'...

Thanks for any input, looking forward to another Razztastic year.

Beltran
Rollins
A. Gonzalez -- Because your Rollins and Beltran are your other keepers, you gotta go for A. Gonzalez.
Hamels
K-Rod -- It sucks, but what are you going to do. You have no starter options worth keeping. I wouldn't mind drafting some of them back, but you're not going to keep Harang or Kuroda, as you said.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

I agree with Grey. It's almost pretty obvious whom you have to keep. With those 5 you you have a great base. You have a potential MVP candidate and Cy Young winner and a top closer. Can't go wrong.

Thanks for the quick replies fellas. My original post could've been much shorter, just wanted to give the full rundown. It was coming down to Gonzo/Rios/Uggla. I was leaning towards Gonzo but you guys just made it that much easier.

Thanks again
