This is first time I've posted on this site - I love the commentary, well done.
I'm in a 5x5 10 team NL only keeper league. $260 budget, we keep 8 with a $4 price increase for each kept player.

My keepers are as follows:
Soto - $14
Fielder - $20
Tulo - $12
Ludwick - $10
McLouth - $20
Victorino - $19
Lince - $11
Hamels - $12
I also have Lidge at $20 and Pelfrey at $5
See there a good reason I shouldn't trade both Lidge and Pelfrey for a couple of 2nd round reserve picks?
We can pick minor leaguers and unsigned FA in the reserve.

I wouldn't want Lidge for $20 or Pelfrey at all so if you can move them by all means. Also, I could see cutting your budget on your keepers. McLouth and Victorino are both solid but for $39 for the pair it's a lot. I'd probably try to move McLouth or not keep him for $20 and keep someone cheaper if that's at all a possibility. If you can't, it's not horrible to have McLouth for $20, but he's a bit pricey.

Yeah, I agree with you about McLouth being pricey but the nature of the league and the players who will be available in the next draft boosts his value. Unless I want to draft a SAGNOF (I think that is right) like Bourn or Tavares (both of whom I would have to overpay for) I would be left with little speed. Rollins will go for $40. Furcal is an injury risk and will still be expensive.

I know you aren't high on Pelfrey, but how come? He plays on a good team and seemed to get it in the second half of last year. Last year's workload is concerning but I think he avoided throwing a lot of breaking balls. Anyway, thanks!

Remember Victorino is a free agent after this season so keep that in mind.

I pulled the trigger and dealt Pelfrey and Lidge for a couple of decent 2nd round reserve picks. I'm happy with the deal, especially in light of Pelfrey's recent injury.
