Help me whittle down my list of keepers!

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Help me whittle down my list of keepers!

Postby IowaCubs » Tue Feb 10, 2009 2:38 pm

I've joined this crazy keeper league where 15 managers each start off the year with their choice of real MLB teams, then have to keep 14 of those players from the team they choose. I got my 7th choice, which was the Arizona Diamondbacks. I now have until this Friday to choose 14 guys from their 2008 roster, (even if they've moved on to other teams).

Pretty basic rosters, C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, CI, MI, 4-OFs, U, 9-Ps, 4 Bench, 2-DL. It's a crazy format, like 12x12 or something like that with stats like IP, dugout farts, etc.

Here are the players I'm considering... I've deleted the Augie Ojeda's of the world... Keep in mind that this is a keeper league, so Jarrod Parker has some pull:

*Snyder, Chris
Montero, Miguel
*Hudson, Orlando
*Drew, Stephen
*Jackson, Conor
*Tracy, Chad
*Reynolds, Mark
*Upton, Justin
*Byrnes, Eric
*Young, Chris
*Dunn, Adam
*Haren, Dan
Webb, Brandon
Cruz, Juan
*Lyon, Brandon
*Scherzer, Max
Owings, Micah
Petit, Yusmeiro
*Qualls, Chad
*Johnson, Randy
Pena, Tony
Rauch, Jon
*Parker, Jarrod

Okay, so that was complicated enough. I've starred 16 that I think are on the top of my list. Which one should I cut here, and/or which one should I add. I'm thinking about leaving Tracy off this list and perhaps Hudson and/or Snyder... what do y'all think?

First question, did you 'draft' the Diamondbacks?

Hudson -- Nope.

Snyder? Eh. You're keeping Parker, but not Montero? Montero's already better than Snyder.

Wait, you're not keeping Webb, but keeping Parker? Maybe I'm missing something in translation or with the left out categories.

Petit's a better keeper than Parker.

Chad Tracy - Bleh.

Let me know if you want me to expand.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

-Each team had 6 top choices picked at random. I didn't get any of my top 6, and the best of the rest was the D-Backs.
-Oh... duh. Meant to put a star next to Webb.
-Parker is a future no. 1 starter, dontchathink? At least that's what I've read, though he might be a year off. Most compare him to Javier Vazquez, but a little better. I could always draft him. Good point, internal voice!
-I can do better than Orlando, so he's out. And Tracy? There's always the wire if I need him.

Montero over Snyder?

No, not yet, but could happen as soon as this year. Personally, I don't want to keep either. Do you need to because of the 14 keeper cutoff?

I'm not keeping either. I imagine there will be many Clement/Molina-types out there. I don't expect Parker to get any time this year in Phoenix, so here's who I'm keeping:
*Drew, Stephen
*Jackson, Conor
*Reynolds, Mark
*Upton, Justin
*Byrnes, Eric
*Young, Chris
*Dunn, Adam
*Haren, Dan
*Webb, Brandon
