One of my favorite things about fantasy baseball is building a winning pitching staff unconventionally.

Loading up on offense is obviously the way to go, and if you are reading great websites like this one you already understand that.

My question is...

in my auction league with a standard 260$ budget and 9 pitcher spots do you think a rotation of the following is good enough to get it done.

p- Ervin Santana (have kept already)
p- Ricky Nolasco (have kept already)
p--BUY ONE PITCHER FROM THE Harang/Wainwright/Slowey tier
p--Sleeper $1 flier Anthony Reyes
p--Sleeper $1 flier David Purcey
p--Sleeper $1 flier Yusmeiro Petit
p--Cheap closer from the Lindstrom/Francisco tier
p--Joey Devine
p--either another cheap closer or another solid starter like Scott Baker depending on how much money left over from offense.

BOTTOM LINE: is this team's staff good enough to win a 12 team league assuming its offense is loaded for bear?

Also, what do you think of the $1 flier SPs? What under the radar starters do you like? Please share. Thanks

Hey, Hammer, good to see you again. Wainwright, Ervin and Nolasco is absolutely plenty to git r done. This is exactly the reason why you should stock up on hitters first. Out of $260, I try not to spend more than $80 on my entire pitching staff. Other $1 possibilites are Wandy, Buehrle, Guthrie, Ubaldo, Litsch and Chris Young.

I'm guessing this means you like Wainwright more than Slowey. I'm hoping to grab either A-rod or Wright and Miguel Cabrera in the auction to build my team around.
