I said to keep McPherson but that would be for deep leagues, think NL-Only leagues, which your league is obviously not. He's definitely someone to look at late in the draft, but first he needs to jump a few hurdles. One major hurdle, he needs to be the starter, not simply a bat off the bench. A great sign for him is this from the Marlins GM:
miamiherald.com/sports/baseball/story/758933.html
McPherson is mentioned towards the end. But the best case scenario for McPherson in 2009 is still 30/100/.250 -- He's not a great bet with average. For mixed leagues, he's nothing but an end game gamble and I'd want Atkins (no matter where he was playing) instead of him. This could change slightly if he dominants in spring training and has the starting job in April.

The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions. Is your league H2H? Roto? I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from. If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters. I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

Tommy John recipients return to the game then it takes six months to a year after that to return to pre-surgery form (some are even better after the surgery), so this means great things for Liriano. He even showed glimmers of this year in August and September when he posted a 1.23 ERA in August, then an inflated ERA in Sept but a K/BB ratio of 31/8 in 29 IP, which is very nice. I'm high on him for 2009 as he bounces right back to pre-TJ surgery Lirinao. Off the top of my head, say 12-6/3.40/1.05/160 Ks in 140 IP.

yea I had the pleasure of having him on my bench and then in the line up. I considered keeping him but figured that his tommy john surgery would spook people away. I think he could fall to me for the second or third pick since I have the wrap around.

Who are you looking at taking with your first pick? Assuming, of course, no one does anything boneheaded with their keepers.

well there are some managers in the league that do bizzar moves like drafting ryan garko in the second round. I need pitching so most likely a pitcher such as jake peavy but if not verlander. if there's and outstanding position player then I'll take him but I'm mostly looking at pitching with the first pick

Verlander is due for a bounce back, but only relatively. He's not going to be incredible. Right now, I'd actually prefer Liriano next year over Verlander.

yea liriano was pretty dominant especially coming back from tommy john. but like I said its like a 75% chance that peavy will available to me and I think that percentage is increasing since the picks are due the second week of december.

youkilis isn't that bad. I'm not completely confident in him yet but his numbers have been improving from year to year so I think he's pretty solid
