Hot teams equal scorched buns, no that’s not right. Hot teams are where holds go to fall in love, it’s like the Sadie Hawkins dance or the Enchantment under-the-sea thingy. The ATL is hot for holds right now, win streaks are a harbinger of fantasy goodness. Stat wise, the team is 15-3 since the AS break, producing 2 guys with 7 holds — Jordan Walden and Luis Avilan (whose name sounds like the Feliz Navidad song if you sing it.) That’s a crazy amount for one guy, let alone 2 guys. To put that in better perspective, they Each (emphasis on each) have more Holds than 12 other teams. More than 3 freaking first place teams to make you feel better in case I missed your favorite tickle spot. I mean, Atl is looking awfully tough right now so why not get on the stats that mean something. Enjoy the week to come.
Danny Farquhar – I like good stories and a guy traded by a team then re-acquired by a team (the same team), then getting waived and going back to that first team all in the span of 6 months. Come on… you’re foolin’ me. This is an after school movie with Meredith Baxter Birney as the divorced mom whose son Danny makes the best of the least when his family could only afford a blue bike when all the kids got red ones. It will be fun while he is there, but saves are saves..some K’s wont hurt either.
A.J. Ramos – Speculating is fun, speculating in Miami is more better. The nice weather, hot pieces of dime pieces waltzing around and for ..cough..saves/holds. Ramos is the heir apparent in an otherwise doomed fantasy environment. Since June 18th, so basically 60 days or the gestation cycle of an Otter, 1 ER, BAA of .145(that’s stupid low) 3wins and a partridge in a bear tree. Yeah, a bear tree, it’s my story, I’ll write how I want.
Joe Smith – Used to call me Joe Smith now they call me Batman. I was waiting to see who was the beneficiary of Vinnie getting whacked. Joe looks like he has the head above Allen in the Injuns bullpen. Has as many holds in the same time as the guys I spoke so glowingly in the header about. Oh, and what a coinky-dink, the Indians are hot. Standings, where would we be with out you.
