@jackie: Aramis Ramierz is still hitting .287, and his BB- and K-rates are both right around his career averages, so I wouldn't say he's doing too badly. If I had the ability to use italics, I would've put them around "too," because obviously, he was drafted for his power and only has 1 HR on the year. I do think he'll come around, and for comfort take a look at his pre- and post- All Star break slugging percentages: Pre, .472 and Post, .523. Clearly, his current SLG% of .368 is nowhere in that ballpark, but he's doing everything else right. Keep the faith. He'll hit 20-25 HR's. Signed, The Fantasy Baseball King

@Rob: No doubt Aaron Hill is in a tremendous slump, and shockingly has yet to hit a single HR all season. To keep the faith though, just look back to 2010: In April he hit a lousy .184/.273/.395, and in May, and even worse .198/.264/.347. But he still ended the season with 26 HR's. He's not going to hit for any sort of decent average, but the homers should come. Bench him until he figures it out, though. Signed, The Fantasy Baseball King

@Charles: Yea, I just don't see Bay doing much more than .250 or .260 with 20 odd homers...this isn't just a 2011 problem. Look back at last season (when he was healthy, of course). My pitching:
Verlander, Tim Hudson, Hamels, Daniel Hudson, Buchholz, JJ

I don’t know if she’ll (girl fantasy player?!) take anyone other than Verlander, but I don’t want to sell Verlander. JJ is a good sell option seeing as he’s always injured right? He’s been so good though….

I’m thinking about trying to sell Tim Hudson first. Thoughts? Thanks!

all i can say is this latest homestand is almost over and his warning track power will soon be visiting the likes of Yankee stadium and Wrigley Field. If you don’t see improvement by then, then cut bait.

If you don’t own him yet, all of the services are down on the guy, so if you see an opportunity to buy him low, now’s the time.

Granted, I speak from an NL-only perspective. In mixed leagues, bench him until he gets a good matchup or gets to Yankee Stadium.

@birrrdy!: I really want to believe! But he’s only slugging .333 and has 6 RBIs from the middle of the lineup. And most of that damage came within the first week of his return. Only 1 double in May.

To me, makes Bay a perfect Buy-Low (just like Corey Hart). Almost everyone is saying they are done, which is exactly when you want to buy high-upside, streaky performers like them IMHO….

Said it in some other threads, but folks are wrong with Bay. I’ve been watching his ABs, and he is hitting the deep warning track pretty consistently. These will start turning into 3 homer weeks soon enough. Some of the strikeouts are ugly, yes, but these are probably lingering results of the head knock.

But Bay is a slam and legs guy, and his legs are just fine. 20-10 is very doable for him still, with a better ROY average on the way. If the power isn’t there, count on him to steal a ton more with Wright out of the lineup (a la Wright in 2009 without Beltran). He’ll find a way to offer value to fantasy players soon enough, even if the Mets are toast.
