I drafter V-Mart 4th for both my teams. I keep on hoping he'll turn it around - he's got to start start hitting home runs at some point, no? If not, who should I try to get instead?

This is my OF at the moment (start 3) - Alex Rios, Jay Bruce, Rick Ankiel, Joey Votto. I think I'm sticking with Rios and Bruce. Rios will turn it around and though I don't expect Bruce to hit .500 with a home run every 2 days for the rest of the season, I think he'll do well enough. Votto is my UTIL player and Ankiel is as sporadic as ever - I want someone I could leave in every day.

My question is this - what currently underperforming OF could I trade for that is guaranteed to either turn it around or perennially has a strong 2nd half?

@RT: Work it to your advantage. Tell the person you're trading with you can't do the deal because you're not getting back enough value. I would say that the most active members in the league don't want to see so much talent move through the league, but that Wright trade says otherwise. Obviously people in the league value the players you are giving up, so you might have other offers for Ichiro or O Perez you haven't explored yet.

I don't have much interest in Harden, but you could get Eveland for a struggling outfielder like Dye, Swisher, or Hawpe. Ichiro is a pretty valuable piece for a contending team. Loads of SB and guaranteed .300+ AVG.

@Joba Potter and the Chamberlain of Secrets: That's not an awful trade if you really need an extra OF. Lee pretty equal to Lee, Lee is better than Howard in some areas and less in others. Quentin adds a solid OF.

Time to sell Mr. Quentin? What kind of value would you want back for him if you were to deal him? In SP and Batting?

@Get Figgy With It: No way. It's a bad trade.

@RT: I'm anti-veto unless the trade is absolutely chicken crap, i.e. Arod for Punto. In a keeper league, you really shouldn't be allowed to veto anything that involves a rookie, unless again it's absolutely horseshit. This trade is neither chicken crap or horseshit. It really sucks to be in a keeper league where you are not allowed to make trades to better your team for the future.

Also, RT, you should repost this question in today's latest post, because sometimes people don't come this far back. Feel free to direct the people who vetoed the trade to come to the site and explain themselves.

Looking for some feedback. A trade for Ichiro/O Perez for Eveland/Harden just got vetoed in my league. It's a keeper and I inherited a team in last place. I am obviously building for down the road and see Eveland as Shaun Marcum next year. Also, I don't need the stats that Ichiro provides.

Whether or not this is a good or smart trade is not an issue. However, what I would like to know is whether it should be vetoed. If anyone remembers, two weeks ago I thought David Wright for BJUpton and BJRyan was not enough value. BUT, it did not get vetoed.

Would you trade Jay Bruce, BJ Upton, and one the 3 relievers (Wood, BJ Ryan, or Papelbon)....for Zambrano, Figgins, and another one of his players...

Would anyone do this trade?

@Paul: Sorry we didn't spend more time stating the obvious - Chipper Jones is RIDICULOUS this year. Some similarly insightful news: Ichiro is fast, Pujols is a good hitter, Webb has 10 wins!

Also, if you search the top left, Chipper's mentioned. Repeatedly. Sometimes as Glass Chipper.

Hey, Grey, do your disturbingly frequent references to masturbation explain the blindness? Over the entire month, not word one on the one who had 41 hits in 28 games.

Sorry, almost forgot, but Chipper OPS'd at over 1.000 last year. The winners last year were the ones who had Chipper and Braun, and Pena, while the losers, well, frequent references to masturbation and a mancrush on a dancing Jose Reyes. So maybe you should go from Grey to Latent?

@wakeNbake: Kouz, Johnson, Cameron, in that order. I wouldn't mess with Sheffield. If you don't have to drop anyone and you can just stash Hafner on your DL, it's worth a shot.

@Tony B.: Guthrie, Contreras, Slowey, Parra, punt.

@Dan H.: I'd lose either. Really it's a take your pick scenario. Hernandez seems like he's a bit more of a negative, so I'd probably lean towards him.

Dioner Navarro is lurking on the waiver wire and I'm looking to pick him up. That would require me dropping either Ivan Rodriguez or Ramon Hernandez. I keep thinking Hernandez is going to have to start getting hot to even out his atrocious start, but then again Rodriguez has been playing decent. Going forward who should I kick to the curb?

@Tony B.: Guthrie doesn't rack up many flashy games -- those 8 IP, 1 ER, 10K gems that warm the soul -- but he rarely gets shelled, and puts up solid stats across the board.

I have no idea what Contreras is drinking these days, but he should share it with all the other 68 year olds.

@ Baron: That's who I was leaning towards after doing a little investigating into his stats but wanted to include those other 4 pitchers who are available to me as well. I actually like Contreras the best but I have a sneaking suspicion that as soon as I add him he will revert back to Jose "Divorce Papers" Contreras...

My night in a nutshell:

Hamels: Smoked. Again.
Acosta: Gives up walk-off homer.
Wheeler: Chokes.

But Jay Bruce makes it all okay.

Hafner and Sheffield are both on waivers in my league. Is either worth a DL spot? Also, looking to pickup a hitter...here are some available in my league. Kelly Johnson, Mike Cameron and Kevin Kouzmanoff.

@Grey

That was in spite of Hamels. He was the only one that screwed my night. Webb, Bergmann, Kaz, Hamels, Bills.

Damn I love my pitching staff. Shields got no decision last night.

Sorry, had to brag to somebody. League's getting sick of looking up my ass from the bottom of the totem pole. Must be the fissures.
