It’s been a while since we took a look at my teams because I don’t think many people really care how my teams are doing. It’s like when your friends tell you about the cutest thing their kid did. Jimmy lost his first tooth! Yeah, that’s nice as I mark your email as spam. We’ve been sitting within striking distance of first in a few leagues and have gone from the top to the middle in a few leagues. Okay, updates done. So what about your teams? Kidding. I’ll go over some outstanding moves and some clunkers. Oh, and since you really do only care about your teams — the RCL Standings and the Fantasy Razzball Standings were updated. Anyway, here’s our fantasy baseball team updates:
14 Team, Roto, 5×5, host: Brandon Funston of Yahoo, Currently in 2nd place
Key Pickup – Mike Napoli saved us from Quad-A All-Star, Jeff Clement. In 82 ABs, Napoli has a 15/6/16/.293/1 line and 6 vaffanculo’s from Scioscia. Justin Duchscherer worked for us for about 5 starts until Dr. Freeze came calling. Brad Penny also helped us for about 50 innings. Or should I say Dave Duncan helped us? Really haven’t had many other game changing pickups. Yet. Muahahahahahahaha…
Key Trades – Were the first ones to grab Justin Smoak then traded him immediately for Ryan Madson and Everth Cabrera, which is neither here nor thurrrrr, Mystikal. Traded Jenks the first week of the season for Maybin and Liriano. Liriano alone makes the trade in our favor; Maybin was obviously dropped. Finally, we traded Gardner for Polanco. Trading steals to fix our 2nd baseman shituation (damn you, Desmond) helped us, but can’t say Gardner’s been bad. I’m sure the other ‘pert is happy with the trade’s results too.
14 Team, H2H, 6×6 (OPS and Holds), host: Andy Behrens of Yahoo, Currently in 4th place
Key Trades – During the first week of the season, we traded Carlos Pena for Andrew McCutchen. Since the team we traded him to is now in 13th place, I’d say we did okay with the trade. Natch! But we’re still in 4th. Snap! Before the season began, we traded Rafael Soriano for Matt Garza. In a league that has Holds, which discounts closers, I think this trade worked out for us. Though Soriano obviously hasn’t been bad.
Debilitating Loss – Incredibly, the loss of EverCab has hurt the most. We’ve basically been punting shortstop for the last month. Not literally punting as in not starting anyone, but the choices haven’t been great. Jason Donald mean anything to you? Good, it shouldn’t. Just yesterday, I traded Carlos Santana for Yunel Escobar. Not a glamorous trade, but with McCann at catcher and Donald at short it was one that needed to be done.
20 Team, Roto, 5×5, host: Not Even Sure, Currently in 5th place
Key Pickups – John Ely has been representing for adverbs everywhere. In 37 1/3 innings, 3.13 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP. In a 20 team league, that’s a’ight.
Debilitating Loss – Can I count drafting Alcides and Beckham? Don’t even want to know how many terrible ABs these two schmohawks have given me. A combined 37/3/20/.237/5 in 308 ABs!!! I’ll be right back, I’m going to stick my head in the oven.
13 Team, Roto, 5×5, host: Scott Pianowski, Currently in 6th Place
Key Pickups – Jaime Garcia has 40 innings and a 1.79 ERA for the team. Though he also has a 1.49 WHIP so I’m expecting him to fall back to earth hard any day now.
Debilitating Loss – 6th place makes it sound like this team is much worse than it is. Our team hasn’t looked bad besides Jason Bay, McCann, de la Rosa, Kemp, Markakis, Figgins, Teixeira, Slowey, Trevor Hoffman… Wait, this team is crap. If Bay, Kemp, Figgy, Tex, McCann and Markakis can even glimpse their past glory, then I might have a shot. Right now, I’m a middle of the pack team hoping for a miraclakakis.

H2H-POINTS LEAGUE
Lincecum FOR King Felix & J. Cueto
@Commish Cauda: I’d take Lincecum.
12 team roto, giving Napoli & Capps for Jonathan Sanchez
Have c.santana (and m. montero on waivers) at catcher and already have three other closers with a 12 saves lead in the standings. Also have good starting pitching, but wanted sanchez to maybe swing another trade.
I like the trade in terms of need, but in terms of value, how’s it look?
Is Vlad worth starting this week? From what I’ve been reading he’ll only start every other day (If correct, only 3 starts).
@John C.: I’d take Sanchez there.
@Jeff: Depends who you’re filling him in with.
H2H-POINT LEAGUE
Going into this week’s H2H it looks like I will be down 5 starts to 7. I could get an extra start by moving Colby Lewis to RP and starting one of the following SP options:
Zito @TOR (Morrow)
Nolasco vs TEX (Feldman)
J. Chacin @MIN (Baker)
It would mean sitting one of my closers:
Soria (vsHOU, @ATL)
Wagner (vsTB, vsKC)
You like any of the three starters? If so, which closer to sit?
Thanks.
MJC
Wound up settling with Posey @ C after Montero went down. Now, Montero’s back and needs to be un-DL’ed. Drop Quentin, Bourn or Huff to keep both C’s or drop one of Montero/Posey?
Also, would you consider dropping Bourn for Borbon or is it Tomatoes-Tohmatoes?
@Commish Cauda: I’d start Nolasco and sit Wagner. It’s obviously risky, but Texas away from Arlington isn’t very good.
@Matty D: Drop Montero…Tomatoes…
@Grey – I’m playing Vlad at DH, so I would play either K. Johnson or Span.
@Jeff: I’d just play Vlad.
***Not sure if this was covered at all in your last post, but this is what Yahoo! has to say about Nelson Cruz:
“OF Nelson Cruz (strained hamstring) is not expected to join the Rangers on the current road trip. The best-case scenario is that Cruz — who was eligible to return from the DL on Sunday — will begin a rehab assignment next weekend while the club is in Houston.”
Plan accordingly.***
Drop Montero for Sean-Rod?
Drop Nolasco for Niese?
Thanks!
@Wilsonian: Thanks for the heads up!
@DrEasy: Sure and eh.
Ricky Nolasco = Risky Nolasco
Lame, but oh so true.
@Grey – I have been driving the Kemp Hype Train for 3 full years now. Has the train run off the rails? What’s up with this guy?!?!?
Glad/sad to hear someone esle feels the pain of a Gordon Beckham/Alcides Escobar double down.
The kind of pain that only a liter of Walgreens brand vodka can wash away.
@Grey –
Can you rank these four SP’s for here on out? I’m looking for the most K’s with the least damage to the peripherals.
Ervin Santana, Gavin Floyd, Anibal Sanchez, Ian Kennedy.
Thanks for everything.
@timSTi: Yup
@William: Eh, he’s in a slump.
@El Famous Burrito: Ha, yup.
@fatti_b: Kennedy, Ervin, Floyd…
Rangers manager Ron Washington indicated Sunday that he may begin limiting youngsters Elvis Andrus and Julio Borbon on the base paths.
@Grey: Thanks! In the same line of thought: drop Montero for Sean-Rod or for Niese? (I already have Kelly Johnson at 2B, and my pitching has been doing really well, so I don’t really need either, but I need a 3rd catcher in a one-catcher league even less).
@Kazmere: Wow, glad someone turned down my Montero + Alexei for Andrus trade offer then! If Andrus won’t steal (and he hasn’t in a while), I’m not sure what fantasy value he offers.
Thanks for sharing, Grey. This makes me feel not so bad about my 7th place crap team. Not that you’re in 7th place anywhere. Plus, my stupid league is so shallow, it’s like playing in a fantasy basketball league with two-player teams. 1st pick: Lebron. 2nd pick: Kobe. Your pick: Oh, crap.
Which is to say, in a shallow league, if you have both Miggy C. and Halladay right now, you are unbeatable. Which our first place team does. And is.
The upside of Shallowdom is that you don’t ever have to worry about guys like Beckham or Alcides.
@Kazmere: How could he limit Borbon more? Dude only has 8 steals. The only way he could further limit Borbon is to subtract some of the steals he already has.
@Kazmere: @DrEasy: this may be the most disturbing news I’ve heard yet, but it makes sense. Even Alcides had more steals over the weekend than Andrus has had in two weeks.
@Grey: do you think Alexei is someone to watch if Andrus turns into Alcides, circa April 2010? Damn that’s a lotta “A’s” in them there names.
Also, ran into one of those drunken leaguemates of mine at the bar the other night. He said he would give me Wainwright/Stras for Ubaldo. However, the next day he said he forgot he even offered up anything because he was drunk (after he sent me a BS offer for Ubaldo). He is one of my best friends (for about the last 15 years), but I said I would do an offer like that, and now he’s definitely backing out saying he’s gonna wait on a couple more starts from Stras. I’m not overly pissed or anything, and not REALLY in the market to deal Ubaldo, but I would at the right price. What’s your take on a deal like that? Is that what I should be shooting for in an 8 Team Keeper for him?
@Grey: Funny, I was going to ask you if you’d do an update on your teams. I don’t know about anyone else but I think it’s fun to see how the ‘perts do, so we readers can mock their failure. I kid, I kid. Cool post.
Getting Liriano was brilliant, even if Maybin’s junk. Like Pena for Dread Pirate. Love Soriano for Garza. Even Smooth for Yuney works, since you need a decent SS and he’s getting it together.
With all of those guys sucking, it’s amazing you’re in 6th in that last league! That’s pretty impressive.
@Wilsonian: That’s why I finally de-Cruzed my teams. I should have known better coming into the year.
@John C.: With 2C’s and 4RP, that’s exactly the kind of move I’m looking for.
Rajai (3 @ CHC, 3 @ Stl) or Span (3 vs COL, 3 @ PHI)this week? Rajai (a righty) only faces 1 lefty and has some tough pitching matchups. Span (a lefty) only faces 1 lefty, but also has some tough matchups.
Dump Mike Gonzalez from my DL spot for Volquez? Or dump Contreras and hold onto both?
Somehow, I ended up with Napoli, Montero, and Carlos Santana. Nobody is biting on trade offers for any of them, so I think I’m just going to drop Napoli. Would you pick up Boesch or Ibanez right now for a non-keeper 5×5 roto league? Boesch’s high BABIP suggests he’s just lucky and Raul has proven he’s a reliable contributor on powerful offense.
(A) drop Ely for Medlen
(B) drop Freese (Zim at 3B/Huff at CI) for Medlen
(C) keep Ely and Freese and let Medlen sit on waivers for some other asshole to grab (it’s the Razzball Commenter League so he probably won’t be available for long)
Pedro Alvarez might get the call later this week according to the Pirates GM. @grey- what do you think of him?
@Grey:
Are all of these guys solid starters this week in an AL Only 5×5?
-J Shields @ ATL
-Morrow vs. SF
-Floyd @ WAS
-Matusz @ SD
…Or which options would you bench, if you could? (Meaning you don’t anticipate a decent outing)
Thanks
Mike D.
@Kazmere: Thanks for the heads up!
@DrEasy: Niese…
@Baron Von Vulturewins: Yeah, there’s advantages with both. Dilemmas of whether I want Bruce on a team or Spilborghs.
@Wilsonian: I’d take Wainwright there. Andrus is a 40 steal guy, Alexei’s a 15 steal guy, they’re not close.
@3FingersBrown: Yeah, bunch of guys I have are doing well. I really only mentioned the bad ones.
@Jeff: Span…
@Mike: Contreras…
@FlyinHawaiianPizza: Ibanez…
@Kent Bottenfield: A
@Martin: http://razzball.com/scouting-the-unknown-09-30-09/ I’ll write about him one day this week if he does get called up.
@Mike D.: I’d start them all.
Which SP do I sit, weekly points league, thanks Grey
Gallardo – @ Col (Francis)
Haran – @ Boston (Lackey)
Kennedy – @ Boston (Buchholz), @ Detroit (Sherzer)
I don’t know if anyone can really answer this question, but do you expect Spilborghs to get enough playing time to be usable in a 14 team h2h w/ weekly changes? Last week he only got 16 AB, which is about 10 less AB than a true starter. Of course, he did very well with that limited playing time, but it seems that COL moves OF around too much to make them helpful in weekly h2h.
Considering all that, should I drop Headley or Quentin for Spilborghs?
grey…can you rank these OF please?
delmon young, gomes, andres torres, pagan, borbon
also, can you tell me if its worth it to hang onto arroyo for post ASB magic…or is he just eh…
Grab Alvarez now and drop Bautista?
Who should i keep montero or napoli. I need to lower my whip and can start as many relievers as i want. Its a no holds league. Do you think i should pick up a middle reliever with low whip to help out? If so do you have suggestions?
@chisox: Kennedy…
@royce!: You can’t play Spilborghs in a weekly league. You need to move him in and out daily for him to work.
@chrisbenson: Gomes, Young, Pagan, Borbon… Sure, hold Arroyo.
@Bring Back Pluto: Nope
@aj: Napoli… No idea what MRs are available in your league.
12team mixed…. drop wandy or morrow for heilman?
@Grey: That’s what I thought on Wainwright. I’m thinking about making him the offer, and shaming him into it anyway. He is a good friend and all…
Re: Alexei v. Andrus – if, on the off chance, his wheels are slightly deflated by Manager Scarface, would you still prefer Andrus over Alexei, taking into account overall value?
H2H-POINTS LEAGUE
Stubborn SOB won’t give up Swisher (my Colby Lewis for his Swisher & S-Rod)
He countered with Helton & S-Rod for Lewis. I don’t think that’s enough, do you?
@dj: Wandy…
@Wilsonian: Andrus is much better than Alexei.
@Commish Cauda: Blech
I guess the better question to ask is if you think Helton will bounce back? With Tulo a little gimpy, they’ll need his bat. But he’s shown no power this season.
@Grey: exactly
Also, Grey, is Hammel, Medlen, Ely the order you would own these three at the moment?
@Grey – for Weekly H2H… Alfonso Soriano or Drew Stubbs?
@Bring Back Pluto: Yup
@William: Soriano…
Needles McGee (aka Hamilton)/Hanson for Mr. Ubaldo/Gregg
Which side?
Would Alvarez be worth stashing, heard he could be up as early as this week.
Every MR except Tyler Clippard is available to help lower my WHIP. Do you know a guy that can help? Should i bench qualls until he figures it out?
H2H-5X5…Pick TWO
Correia vsTOR (Romero)
Gallaraga vsARI (Edwin Jackson)
Gio Gonzalez @CHC (Dempster)
Thanks
tabata or Sean Rodriguez. 5 OF spots an d have hamilton, gardner, granderson. hart, stanton, tabata. 2b phillips, ss aybar, 2b/ss zobrist.
Thanks
@Grey: Yep, that makes sense. How about Burrell? Think he’s worth dropping Headley or Quentin for? (14 team, 5×5 + OBP & XBH).
@Anyone: I’m a little ahead of the game, but do you sit Glaus v. Price tomorrow night? I’m playing Howard at 1B v. CC, and Glaus is my UTIL guy, but I could sub in Huff v. Arrieta or Stanton v. my cousin C.J. What say you, sirs (and ma’am)?
Yay, Pedro Alvarez is close to being called up! I’ve been hanging on to him for over a month in a league that doesn’t have bench spots (I’ve been minus one pitcher). I felt like a stepfather to an ungrateful tyrant. So now I need to drop either Seth Smith or Ryan Spilborghs. Spilborghs has been cutting into Smith’s playing time against righties. Whom do I drop (when Alvarez gets the call)?
who should i start
Vlad or Billy Buttler
Vlad will be in national league parks all week thats why im up in the air with my decision since i can only start him as a DH
@Wilsonian: I’d start Glaus. He’s great v. LHP, and Price has been good, but also pretty lucky.
David Hernandez or Heilman for save speculation?
Where do your projections stand for Adam Lind now?
@Tom: Vlad will be in NL parks all week but Nelson Cruz is out for the week so Vlad will probably still get a decent amount of playing time. On the other hand, Vlad is not nearly as good away from Arlington. On the third hand, HOU pitching is terrible.
I’d go with Butler.
@Mike: Thanks for reminding me about him. When I make my next move, I’m going to grab Volquez to stash on the DL.
13 team mixed roto keeper league. My team is sinking fast and needs a shake-up – I’m in the top half of the league in power categories, but getting killed on speed/avg. What do you think of offering A. Soriano/Leake for Span/Kennedy (already tried the same trade except Dread Pirate instead of Span and got shot down)? Too much to give up?
evening gentleman,
I need 1b/CI to fill a Kendry sized hole. I traded Pac man for Smoak but CBS is now reporting that he could be sent to the minors if his new slump continues. Just brainstorming and looking at people in my league that would trade CI… is Greinke for Youk overpaying? Basically nothing on the wire (Branyan, Kouzmanoff, Barton).
Is Alvarez coming up? Worth considering?
I already turned both deals down, but I got offers of:
(His) King Felix for (My) A-Gon
and
(His) Felix for (My) Pedroia
I don’t really need pitching help (Lester, JJ, Price, Filthy, C-Shaw, Kennedy & Lilly). Just curious if anyone else would have accepted either offer. 10-team, H2H, non-keeper.
@JackInTheBox: Hamilton side.
@yanks4life: Maybe
@aj: Grab Heilman if you have Qualls.
@royce!: Sure, lose Headley.
@dave: Smith
@Mark Geoffriau: Hernandez…
@Cheese: 25 homers and a terrible average.
@Art Vandelay: Works for you.
@bodymore: Sure, grab Alvarez.
@Lines: If you don’t need pitching, I wouldn’t do them.
@Art Vandelay: I would make that trade. Kennedy>Leake, and, in a keeper, I think Span>Soriano.
@bodymore: Seems fair to me, not overpaying.
@Lines: I would have taken Felix for Pedroia, but it looks like you’d just have too much pitching if you did. Pedroia hasn’t been very good since hurting his knee. And I don’t like his idea, “I’ll heal while I play.”
@royce!: I think he’s getting the Span side.
Drop Napoli for Posada?
What about C. Richard for Lilly?
know, I can’t beleive they are on the wire either. 12 team, mixed.
@JRT: Posada, sure. I’d want Lilly….
Great stuff as always. This is far and away my favorite (only?) fantasy bball website – including commenters.
I would love some feedback on the following:
Context: 11 team league with big benches and very few interesting waiver drops.
My pitching and avg. is killing me(bottom in WHIP and ERA and AVG). My power is quite good. Pujols, Reynolds, Uggla…
Here it is:
I get: Cliff Lee, John Lester, Chone Chone, and Francisco Cordero….
He gets: Cole Hamels, John Sanchez, Mark Reynolds, Jay Bruce, and Evan Meek.
Not a great value deal – but the pitching upgrade is significant and Bruce and Reynolds will forever be .avg drains.
Thoughts?
My Josh Hamilton poster and I thank you for the shoutout
@teufleshuffle22: Thanks for the kind words! Don’t like it for you. How about trading just Reynolds for a SP? Maybe Lester or Hamels, in that order.
@LMack: Huh?
@Grey: I thought so to. I was saying that if I were him, I would trade Soriano and Leake for Span and Kennedy. I must not have made that clear–did I get the direction of the “>” symbol wrong? I learned it as the symbol is an alligator, which prefers to eat the greater of two things.
I asked a similar Q yesterday, but this one is more specific- in a 10 team roto where I have a bunch of good SP, should I drop Nolasco to pick up Luke Gregerson in order to bring down my peripherals?
@royce!: Ah… Yeah, I got confused. My bad.
@royce!: Eh, I’d just bench Nolasco.
Ely or LeBlanc? Can we still buy you a daiquiri?
@dave: Sure… LeBlanc…
Grey
Tried for Braun but got Teixeira as a counter offer for Strasburg. Pull the trigger?
Thanks
who would you drop to pick up heilman? Tabata, morrow, niece, smoak
@Bostonbeerman: I’d take Tex.
@aj: Smoak…
Keeper of course
I really prefer to set it and forget it with catchers, but Wieters is killing me right now. Napoli and Montero are free agents. Do I pick one up over Wieters?
Nice job Grey. I’m 2nd in my H2H and 6th in my roto. Both 18 teamers. I was 1st in the roto until mid-May.
im thinking about dropping ian stewart for pedro alvarez.
is this a really bad idea?
Is it true Jermaine Dye signed a minor league contract with the Yankees? I can’t find that substantiated anywhere but Wikipedia so I’m skeptical. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jermaine_Dye
I know he turned into a rotten pumpkin in the second half last year but he was hitting .302 with 20 jacks at the Break. It doesn’t make sense that he doesn’t have a job somewhere unless he really mated with a shankapotomous during the All Star Game.
@Nuke LaDouche: Napoli…
@Tom Emanski: Nice!
@black love: I wouldn’t.
@Seequinn: It’s an overzealous Yankee fan editor of Wikipedia.
@Grey: Figured. Do you have any idea why he isn’t playing anywhere?
In my 12 team, 5×5 Keeper (Max. 8), with no CI/MI but extra Util spots, I am in 5th and could use a boost in HR’s & RBI’s to make a run at the money! My active roster is: Napoli, Howard, Davis, Stewart, Headley, Kouzmanoff, Youkilis, Alexi Ram, Bay, Granderson, Hamilton and Ross. Ps: Bell, Cueto, Kennedy, Price, Rauch, Sanchez, Santana and Raf. Soriano. With Beckett, Olsen, & Snider on the DL & Slowey on the bench. I have the chance to get one of the following players Loney, Cantu or Ludwick. The team that’s trading is in last, so I might be able to get a deal………. What do you think would be a fair trade for each of these players, assuming you think I should try and get one (or more). Thanks!
@Seequinn: Goiters? No, I’m not sure.
@Euroalien: See if he’ll take Cueto or Kennedy for Ludwick, in that order on the SPs.
H2H League with a K/9 cat
Lackey or Kennedy for the rest of the year?
@fitz: Kennedy
Start Ian Kennedy @ Bos ?
@SamYo: Nope…
Keeper league where you only keep one pitcher:
Haren, F-Her, Granderson and Napoli for (my side) Heyward and J. Upton
I’d have Linc and C.Santana and Posey (don’t judge me) to backup the loss.
Thanks Grey, sent him a Cueto for Ludwick offer. I figure the trade value on Loney or Cantu would be too high….. and Im not sure I can afford to give up a stud like Price or Santana for one of them. Seems like that would be too much………..
@Black Beard: You have that many SPs to over pay by that much? It’s okay for you for the future, obviously.
@Grey: What if I can get Romero added to the deal?
@Black Beard: Sure, that helps.
@Grey: How would you rank these MI? Guillen, Uribe, O-dog, Aybar, Lopez
I found this interesting. Never realized how good Wainwright really is:
ERA since July 11, 2007
1. Adam Wainwright … 81 gms/81 starts … 45-19, 2.69 ERA
2. Roy Halladay … 93 gms/92 starts … 51-28, 2.72 ERA
3. Tim Lincecum … 89 gms/88 starts … 41-17, 2.72 ERA
4. Zack Greinke … 100 gms/88 starts … 33-28, 2.85 ERA
5. Johan Santana … 86 gms/86 starts … 38-25, 2.99 ERA
*as of june 6th
@thepizzaman: who,s the next 10?
@AL KOHOLIC: those were the only 5 under a 3 era.
heres the article: http://interact.stltoday.com/blogzone/bird-land/bird-land/2010/06/cardinals-by-the-numbers-wainwrights-mlb-record-ibb-fallout/
Which side wins?
Mauer/Fielder/Gregg for Kemp/Haren/Soria/D. Lee
Have Posada to replace Mauer
@thepizzaman: Interesting stuff. I didn’t realize he was that good either. Glad I have him in my keeper. He’s still got a lot of good years ahead of him.
@3FingersBrown: Lopez, Uribe…
@thepizzaman: That is interesting.
@BushLeague: Not crazy about it for you.
Ludwick is crushing it right now… I had a hunch on him this year and scooped him up in two of my leagues. Playing like a OF2 so far. Snootchi bootchies amigos. Grey, you buying or selling Ludwick?
@Grey
Ian Kinsler. Discuss. You must have him on many leagues, because I haven’t heard hide nor hair about him in weeks. Buy low value? Or should we just pin up some police tape: “Nothing to see here, folks. Move along now.”?
@Grey: Interesting. I didn’t figure you’d regard Lopez so highly. Since I’m going to have to lose an OF to fill MI, I was thinking of offering a guy AJax or Quentin for Aybar. Figure I’d mitigate some loss of SB. I realize that Uribe won’t help, since I’m up near the top in HR/RBI (the only categories I consistantly win with this team)
Figure if Lopez stays healthy he scores more runs than Aybar?
@Joe B: Buying…
@kangaroo hops: I don’t have him anywhere. Hard to buy low on a guy that is so injury prone.
@3FingersBrown: It’s not like those other guys were that great.
@thepizzaman: thanks,nice article
@Grey: No definitely not. Guillen’s always hurt even when he’s not and O-Dog’s got a bum wrist now. You’re probably right, considering Lopez has the playing time and decent track record. It’s funny. I feel like every year I end up with Lopez at MI for one reason or another. Last year it worked out well!
@ Grey – Pick one going forward: Ely, Hammel, LeBlanc, or Takahashi.
Thanks for all you do.
@3FingersBrown: Yeah, he’s more a guy until something better comes along.
@Big Nate: LeBlanc (at home), Hammel, LeBlanc…
Wow i didn’t realize i fell asleep and started dreaming already, Wieters just hit a bomb!
There are few things better than sitting Wieters for literally over two weeks, playing him today only because of the off day, and seeing him hit a solo shot.
@Grey:
Who’s hot streak do you prefer riding for 3-4 days–
Jason Kubel or Julio Borbon?
grey…should i be adding roberts??? this is the latest…
Roberts (back) will rest for a few more days before resuming baseball drills, MLB.com’s Brittany Ghiroli reports.
Recommendation: The report says Roberts could be back by the end of June, but that is highly unlikely. The All-Star break is a reasonable goal if everything goes according to plan, but just remember nothing has gone according to plan with Roberts this season.
@Eddy: Apples and oranges. If you need steals, Borbon.
@chrisbenson: If you have DL room….
@thepizzaman: Ha
@Grey: THIS close to picking up Pat the Bat.
Which is what she said. Not that any ‘she’ would have any trouble picking him up…
@Steve: She already picked him up and dropped him and picked him up again.
@Grey: That’s Pat – always ready to ‘suit up’.
Selfless, I say. Selfless.
@Grey:
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but apparently Bumgarner won’t take the 5th spot. It’s Joe “I take the prize for looking the most stoned in my player pic” Martinez.
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/8445
@Steve: Pat’s a giver.
@Eddy: Yeah, but I can’t imagine that sticks.
@Steve: I actually did pick up the bat in 15 team. Psychic! Dropped CJack and S. Hairston for Pat and Bernadina for OF depth.
@Grey: I hear you… Look at Wieters and Hill start hitting as soon as I trade them. Figures. Honestly, I’m of the mind that a trade works out for both teams. That way an opponent will be more inclined to trade in the future.
At least I got them in there tonight, the trade doesn’t go through until Thursday. Hopefully they won’t wreck my ratios too badly.
Ugh – my H2H opponent has 6 guys going to my 3, A-Gonz and Braun among them.
@3FingersBrown: It’s how it always works… Unless you’re trading Quentin.
@Steve: My opponent has Braun and Rasmus.
Thanks for the help to this point.
With Rollins on the DL, my middle infielders are floundering and waivers are full of schmos. Should I make any moves?

@Grey et al What would you expect to give up for Reynolds (if anything)? I was hoping to acquire a 1B like Votto or Butler. I’ve even tried adding a myriad of donkeycorns! I do have a surfeit of OF Ethier, Young, Stanton, Gomes, Manny, Lee, Rajai. I’d like to keep Ethier, Krispie, Rookie Nookie, Gomes and Rajai. That would leave Manny and Lee on the outs. (D. Lee and Robot are on waivers too).
@Grey: I hope to, although not surprisingly he hasn’t gotten much interest. He’ll keep sonavabenching me until he’s gone.
@Grey: Trading Quentin … I couldn’t even trade him to his mother for a bag of peanuts.
@Steve:
nice job in the razz league .
25th over-all , if i read it correctly .
care to share any secrets ??
@big o: Nothing to share really – I’ve pretty much had a set-and-forget policy. Porcello has been gold, Jose Lopez too, although he is starting to pick it up too much for my liking.
Problem is, I’m WAY, WAY over my innings limit and now have got a bunch of (hopefully) crappy relievers on my staff, so I’m probably going to start going backwards big-time, very shortly.
@Grey: Hernandez in for Os. Time to lose him, or do we need to see Simon get a save first?
throw carlos guillen onto my earlier post. thanks again
Hey I saw that a tremor shook things up in So Cal. Hope everything’s ok!
What happened to Aybar? Did he get hurt?
@Grey: Would you roll with Montero or C. Santana on a week-to-week basis? Do you think it makes sense to trade 1 of them (if so, who do you think gets me more value in return)? Thanks dude.
get all those treamors out of your system,we fly into long beach at noon tomorrow,might catch an angel game,its gotta be better than the humidity here
@chet steadman: I’d see what Drew can do in Boston.
@Howard: Try and get Votto, not sure it happens though.
@Stephen: Ha
@Steve: I’d wait to see a save from Simon.
@3FingersBrown: I didn’t feel anything. Aybar’s probably headed to the DL.
@Bryan: Roll with Santana, trade Montero.
@AL KOHOLIC: Nice, have a safe flight.
who would you pick up to replace aybar?
Starlin Castro,
Alcides Escobar,
Jeff Keppinger
Maicer Izturis
Felipe Lopez
@aj: Alcides…
Grey,
Please rank for rest of season in H2H: Olivo, Posey (C1) , Santana.
