Personally, I like Alex White over Porcello. Beyond White and Pomeranz, the Indians didn’t lose much in the way of prospects. The price they paid was close to market rate. More concerning is the price the market placed on a 1/2 season of Ubaldo’s performance. Only time will tell if they over paid. Personally, I don’t think you give up Pomeranz for Ubaldo.

Subsequently, the comparison is lacking in a few key spots. Statistically they are similar. I could see a lesser Kershaw, an AJ Burnett, or Cole Hamels. Those are all the upside comps.

If Michael Bourn is your best case scenario comp, you should not be untouchable.

Excited to see Pomeranz next year though. A “wicked-ass” knuckle curve, I am intrigued… He just better not be another AJ Burnett.
