Can I be more obvious by using the most expensive pitcher in my title? Two words: Adam Wainright! There isn’t an emoticon out there that can express how his owners felt this past Tuesday. I sadly was not one of them. I went the budget pitching route and spent more on bats and was fortunate enough to squeak out some wins. The pain of missing out on Waino’s one hit no walks CG shutout will haunt me for at least a week. Today we have a similar situation with Zach Greinke. My favorite dark horse Cy Young candidate last year and still one this year gets the free swinging Mets at the infamously named Metco. Do we add “co” to all overly large places that hurt the product? Please post your own uses for the addition of “co” below and enlighten me. On the year Greinke has 7 wins, a 2.03 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 10.29 K/9, and a 2.03 BB/9. That’s ridiculous. I don’t care if he costs $12,100 today. I’m buying and looking for some sleeper hitters. The Mets have the 5th worst team K-rate and I wouldn’t be shocked to see 7 innings and 10 K’s vs. the Mets. And, yes I made a Sixteen Candles reference in my title…you got a problem with that?
You guys need to get over to DraftKings and jump on board the daily train. Let me be a salesman for a minute. Are your teams going through slumps? Are you dealing with an over abundance of injuries? Does hearing the words Tommy John make you want to puke? Well then a daily fantasy win might be just what you need! You get a fresh canvas every day to paint a fantasy mosaic of your best sure things and value plays on a daily basis. You can play for money or you can play for free. You can play H2H with me or against 5,000 others. Here is the link for our latest promo with the guys over at DraftKings. Don’t forget you can use the Stream-o-Nator, Hitter-Tron, and the DFSBot to check your work.
Jake Arrieta, SP: $6,200 – Not a lot of magic here, just playing the odds. The former Orioles pitching prospect turned Cubs back end of the rotation starter gets to pitch in San Diego for the Cubbies. Do I need to say anymore….He’s got a k-rate of 8.78 and has turned in a few quality outings. Petco plays like Wrigley Field to a little leaguer….play him.
Yan Gomes, C: $ 3,800 – Pretty tough catcher pool today. I like Gomes because he didn’t play in the 13 inning marathon yesterday and picking an off day start behind the plate can be troublesome. He’s got 6 HR’s on the year and is the 4th best catcher tomorrow according to Hitter-Tron. But you never know, Gomes might of slipped Hitter Tron a Nova for a favor.
Chris Davis, 1B: $4,700 – A good place to spend those dollars on the Hitter-Tron’s highest rated first baseman of the day. I always like to grab a hot hand and he’s hot right now. The price tag isn’t that bad considering what the top two first basemen are going for.
Adam Dunn, 1B: $4,100 – He’s a lefty and David Phelps is a righty. He’s hot and Phelps is Meh! I like this one today and so does Vegas (see below). Chi Sox might be a nice stack and this is my centerpiece.
Nick Franklin, 2B: $3,200 – He was just called back up and is set to start daily for the Mariners. I would like the price to be lower but he gets the blah Jarred Cosart. He has killed it in AAA this year with 7 HR’s and 6 SB’s. Here’s to hoping it translates and now, let the over the net prayer club commence.
Mike Olt, 3B: $3,600 – This is a total punt play. I don’t like the other options for the late contest and even Petco couldn’t contain some of the shots this kid has hit. He’s my gut call today. Do I feel lucky?…Well do yo, punt?
Chris Johnson, 3B: $3,500 – I can’t leave you with just Mike Olt. Who am I? Pirates management and their handling of the right field platoon? Johnson is the only Brave that rakes Matt Garza with 2 HR’s in only 9 AB’s with two walks. Again, he’s a value play that might sneak in and get you a good return.
Everth Cabrera, SS: $3,800 – speed plays well at DraftKings and Dee Gordon costs an arm and a leg today. If you see where this is going then look below where I plan on spending all my non pitching dollars today.
Adam Jones, OF: $4,900 – He’s been on fire of late and with the return of Chris Davis I like the combo today. He’s a stud who over the last two weeks has put up a 10/5/12/.356 line and isn’t slowing down. Make it rain DFS dollars all over your outfield today.
Nelson Cruz, OF: $4,900 – Can you see the trend here? I’m stacking against the Indians and while this might seem nuts to you, it makes sense to me on a shallow off day. Between the three O’s I have out there this is the one that could get lost among the others. Check the % owned while doing your lineups.
Gerardo Parra, OF: $3,600 – You didn’t think I would leave you with just the studs? Rico Friggin Suave kills Lance Lynn and has put together a decent couple of weeks. When Gibson lets him play he gets the lead off spot. Lifetime against Lynn he has a double, 2 triples and a HR in only 9 AB’s. I get the sample size is small, no joke inserted here, but it’s your 3rd OF and most likely the end of your money.
Jayson Werth, OF: $4,200 – Already hit one HR against Edison Volquez and I’m banking on a 2nd today. EV has been terrible this year giving up 9 HR’s in only 49.2 innings. Werth needs to focus on that beard and channel his inner Odin so he can blast one out and live up to that face foliage.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
The [email protected] has a chance for some scattered thunder storms so be aware of that if you go after my Greinke play. That means have a back up. We can talk about it in the comments. If you are playing the early set be aware that the [email protected] game has a few showers on it’s horizon. Most games have either some clouds or sun so it should be a good day for baseball.
Doing Lines In Vegas
Sorry early contesters. I’m doing the late games today.
[email protected] is at 9 1/2 so the stack attack is on here. Pick a side and go for it.
