Not a bad week for your humble-but-nonetheless-handsome Guru as we cashed in on 15 of 20 contests we entered increasing our bankroll and getting us one step closer to a winter of umbrella drinks in Cancun (or at least a couple weeks in Tijuana). Want to join me poolside? Join the DraftKings Sweet Spot challenge and you could go on a permanent vacation. Their pool is filled with $400,000. If you’re new to the game, keep in mind DraftKings virgins get a free $2 ticket. If I win that thing I’m buying a small island off the coast of Ecuador and a new liver.

If you’re veteran to DFS leagues go ahead and skip to my lineup now as I give our new friends the Guru’s top 5 tips for winning cash with DraftKings.

When it comes to winning real money there are a few things to keep in mind: 1) Pitching leads the way and strikeouts are king. The Stream-o-Nator nails this on an almost daily basis. 2) Build stacks against the worst pitchers. 3) Check the Vegas odds on what games are predicted to have high scores. Vegas knows what they are doing, why not use them. 4) Know the overlay. DraftKings has guaranteed payouts (another reason they are the king) and when a tournament doesn’t fill, the money is still guaranteed. 5) Know the weather situation, know who’s in and who’s out of the starting lineups. Don’t be left with a giant zero because Joey Votto got a day off or it rained frogs in Cleveland. (Shameless plug: Follow me on Twitter @TheGuruGS as I tweet that kind of stuff daily plus yoga pants pics.)

Alrighty my Razzballers, here’s your dirty turbaned Guru’s lineup for Wednesday’s 4/16 contests on DraftKings for 2014 Fantasy Baseball.

Yu Darvish, SP: $12,600 – Darvish is averaging 30+ FPTS in his first two starts. I’m going to spend here as the guy has banked for me big already. We’ll look to save elsewhere.

Michael Pineada, SP: $9,200 – I’m not too high on the pine tar stained Yankee in real fantasy baseball (does that make sense), but I like him in this matchup. He gets the Cubs in Game 2 of the double bill today. The Cubbies are 7th in MLB in K’s. KA-CHING! Load up on the sticky stuff, Mr. Pine-Aid.

David Ross, C: $2,100 – Check the lineup first, but Ross is likely to get the start against the stanky lefty John Danks. It’s a value move here, let someone else spend big on Buster Posey while the Blue Wolf scores nearly as many points for less than half the price.

Paul Konerko, 1B: $3000 – Another value play as we spent big on arms, but the 75-year-old Konerko has bashed Sox starter Clay Buchholz to the tune of a .467 average.

Howie Kendrick, 2B: $4,100 – Kendrick kills Milone – 9/20 with two homers in his career. Start him tonight.

Pablo Sandoval, 3B: $3,600 – The Panda is averaging 9+ FPTS in his last four games and has two career homers against Paul Maholm. Like the chances for a big bomb tonight.

Erick Aybar, SS: $3,100 – Cheap price for a SS averaging 8+ FPTS in his last five games. Aybar also hits Milone pretty well with a .353 average. Actually, all the Angels hit Milone at .300+ clip.

Austin Jackson, OF: $4,500 – Action Jackson is 5/10 against the Indians Zach McCallister and has a good chance to score runs tonight in a game Vegas has the Tigers winning.

Yoenis Cespedes, OF: $4,100 – Nice price here for a guy with 8+ FPTS a game through the first 10 games.

Jonny Gomes, OF: $3,700 – We’re looking for cheap power here and Gomes can hit the lefties. Gomes has 10+ points in his last three starts. He takes Danks deep tonight.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

We had a rainout at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday and they’ll play two today with the weather looking good. Cold, wind and rain in Minnesota today as we steer clear of Twins and Jays. It’s sunshine and rainbows (and retractable roofs) across the rest of the league.

Doing Lines in Vegas

With all the aces taking the hill across the league today the Vegas over/unders are relatively low. However, my main Vegas connection Ronnie Sharkskin likes runs to be scored in ARI/NYM, STL/MIL and HOU/KC.
