Much like the classic street hockey scene in Wayne’s World, Zack Greinke called time on his 43 2/3 inning scoreless streak to be with his wife for the birth of their first child. Congrats Zack, being a Dad is a gift and I commend you for putting everything aside to be there. But now that the important stuff is out of the way allow me to be the first to say “GAME ON”. What better gift for Zack to return to than a date with the anemic Mets offense. It’s like an extremely early Father’s day gift for Mr. Greinke. Only less like socks and more like an increased opportunity to extend that scoreless streak to 50+ innings. Now don’t get me wrong, even the Mets could score a run or two. Believe it or not, they’ve scored some before even as recently as yesterday.  They don’t call them Amazing for nothing! But lets consider Mr. Greinke’s streak shall we? 43 2/3rds scoreless (one Mike Trout ASG tater notwithstanding), 42 strikeouts, 4 walks and just 19 hits. That’s sex watching Scarface! Why? Because that’s gangster! In what equates to nearly 5 full games Greinke has a nearly 2/1 strikeout to baserunner ratio. That’s Nintendo RBI baseball Nolan Ryan good. That’s Lance Armstrong with one ball on PED’s good. That’s $45 ribeye medium rare good. It’s good, really really good. I can’t promise the new pops keeps the Mets off the board today but I can tell you this….. Versus RHP the boys from Queens are 29th in weighted on base average and OPS. So there’s no better opponent to face outside of the Old Timers lineup they call the Phillies. Sure he costs $13,000 but the matchup and form couldn’t be better.

Aaron Nola, SP: $5,600 – Zack Greinke is expensive I get it, and it won’t be easy to fill out the rest of your lineup right? Wrong! Look no further than the former LSU Tiger Aaron Nola. In the rookie’s first taste of the show on Tuesday, he went 6 strong innings allowing 1 run, 5 hits, and a walk, in a tough luck loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. Not too shabby! Well today he faces a Cubs team fresh off being no hit by Philly ace Cole Hamels. I know, I know law of averages might tell you to stay away from Nola the day after a no-no, but the Cubbies numbers vs RHP are tough to dismiss.  The Northsiders sit tied for 24th in team wOBA with their cross-town rivals the White Sox. Even more enticing is their 24.4% K% first in the NL and second only to the Astros 24.9% across all of MLB. I’m not saying Nola outscores Keuchel, Cole, deGrom, and Wacha but he’s an absolute steal at his price of $5,600. So get all Apache and “Jump On It“.

Dallas Keuchel, SP: $11,300 – Batters stepping to me, they want to get some/ But I’m the K, so yo, you know the outcome, another victory/ they can’t get to me/ so pick a BC date cause you’re history/ I’m the authentic bearded to get lyrical/ to hit a fly on me will take a miracle……Ain’t no half steppin!

Jason Hammel, SP: $8,700 – Yesterday was Cole Hamels turn to spin a gem, is today Hammel’s turn? Wait that’s confusing? You know what isn’t? How bad the Phillies are against RHP. Seriously I’m not sure you could be last in more categories in a particular split. Don’t believe me? Check out the team OPS, OBP, wOBA, and wRC+ vs RHP. Yup 30th in each. In other words, Hammel is sitting on chrome.

Ryan Raburn, OF: $2,300 – Are you a penny pinching son of gun like myself? Then can I interest you in a reduced price Raburn? No not Danny Rayburn or the always sexy Meg, but their less homicidal cousin Ryan. He sticks to killing lefties not his brother. How bad does Ryan kill these lefties? How about he and A.J. Pollock are tied for 19th overall in MLB with an identical wOBA vs LHP of .383.

Logan Forsythe, 1B/2B: $3,700 – When the Rays are facing a lefty, I love me some Forsythe as 6 out his 10 homers this season have come off of LHP and 3 of those have come at home. He leads the Rays, a tough line up on lefties mind you, with a .403 wOBA. Today “Forsythe Spots” faces Wei-Yin Chen; lifetime he’s 6/20 with 2 homers and 5 RBI’s off the Baltimore lefty. A sneaky contrarian stack in contests this afternoon might be the Rays. Joey Butler ($3,100 .358 wOBA .vs LHP) Evan Longoria ($3,500 .380 wOBA .vs LHP), and even Steven Souza ($3,600 .380 wOBA vs LHP) should all be considered.

Alexei Ramirez, SS: $3,000 – With three big games in the last week and some solid BvP numbers vs Danny Salazar, Ramirez could be the steal of the day at $3,000. That’s a total SS punt with some great data behind it.

Todd Frazier, 1B/3B: $6,000 – He costs 6,000 clams for a reason gentlemen. Power like Frazier’s at Coors vs a lower tier pitcher is a healthy combination. Very healthy combination. He’s the high floor corner guy in my Rays mini-stack lineup that I’m running in a few contests like the $80k Moonshot and Today’s Razzball contest. Look I told you what I’m doing!! Now you can turn my arrogance against me. Do it!!!

Nick Hundley, C: $4,300 –  Hundley’s the truth at home, simple and plain. Top 20 in home wOBA, Slg and OPS, he’s more or less the top catcher on DraftKings when at Coors. Today he faces young and promising Reds righty Michael Lorenzen, young and promising yes, but also sloppy and homer prone. The latter rarely gets lucky at Coors.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

There are slight chances of rain in St. Louis, Minnesota, and Pittsburgh, and every where else looks like smooth sailing.

Doing Lines In Vegas

Well it looks like the sharks disagree with me on the whole Nola thing but like the Hammel idea, as the Phillies are +210. No total on the board as of yet in that one. The highest total of the day not surprisingly is the Cincy vs Colorado showdown at Coors. The Angels are a heavy favorite over the Rangers at -200, while the White Sox are an intriguing dog against Danny Salazar and the Indians at +160.

Thanks for reading and happy DraftKinging!!
