It was only about two weeks ago that the Mets sent Steven Matz to have his elbow examined. Fantasy owners were nervous and tried and true Mets fans were ready to call it a lost season. Overreaction at its finest, but it makes total sense; no one wants to see a promising pitcher go down with a serious injury, especially one that’s already undergone Tommy John surgery. Well, have no fear. Matz came back in his next start and fired off seven innings while giving up just two runs. His start against Washington last week was even better as he pitched eight scoreless innings while striking out seven. So, Matz is totally fine, but here comes the best news yet: he gets a floundering White Sox team in friendly Citi Field. Chicago is just 2-8 over their last 10 games and looks like total crap which is sweet, serenading music to your ears. Matz is my top pitching option on Tuesday night.

Jake Arrieta, SP: $13,000 – Outside of Clayton Kershaw, the Dodgers aren’t really all that intimidating. They have some very good young bats, but Arrieta should have no problem putting them in their place. The only real question here is whether you want to pony up the ridiculous sum of money to pay for Arrieta. The nasty right-hander did give up four earned runs in his last start, so his ownership has a chance to be down. Get creative and cook yourself something tasty with Arrieta sitting at the head of your table. While I prefer Steven Matz as my SP1, Arrieta is always a great option.

Gerrit Cole, SP: $9,600 – The Pirates have been rolling as of late, but Cole has yet to catch up. While he has solid numbers overall this year, Cole only has three games at or above 22.7 points on DraftKings. Outside of Marcell Ozuna and Christian Yelich, Miami’s lineup has been a dumpster fire (and yes, that includes The Artist Formerly Known As Mike Stanton). Even though he’s going head-to-head against Jose Fernandez, there’s a great chances he leaves South Florida with plenty of strikeouts and a win.

Jon Gray, SP: $7,400 – You want that GPP special for Tuesday night, I hear? Give Jon Gray a shot at home against the Reds. Cincinnati still has several well known players, but they more or less piece their lineup together each night with a couple of pieces of Bazooka Bubblegum. Coors is scary, but the Reds are not. I’ll take my chances.

Russell Martin, C: $3,400 – It’s been an awful two months for Russell Martin at the plate, but it appears as though things are changing, slowly but surely. Martin is 6-for-19 (.319) with three home runs over the last seven days and faces CC Sabathia, who is always an implosion candidate, especially at Rogers Centre.

Francisco Cervelli, C: $2,300 – I know Cervelli has a tough matchup against Jose Fernandez, but he’s also so cheap that if you are going to pay up for pitching, it’s a totally justifiable play. His ceiling isn’t all that high, but he’s safe for cash games.

Edwin Encarnacion, 1B: $4,100 – E5 really hasn’t found his groove yet this year and surprising in 47 at-bats against CC Sabathia, he’s still searching for his first home run. I don’t like to call my shots very often, but that’s going to change on Tuesday night.

Matt Adams, 1B: $3,600 – Milwaukee starter Wily Peralta gets clobbered by lefties and righties equally, but Adams has a cool .406 wOBA against RHP this season. I love this matchup.

Brian Dozier, 2B: $3,700 – Eric Surkamp is starting the A’s on Tuesday night, so Dozier couldn’t really ask for a better matchup. Dozier is only batting .207 on the season, but clocks in at .350 against LHP.

Devon Travis, 2B: $3,300 – It seems as though I have a theme of picking on CC Sabathia, so it is going to continue with Travis. The second-year second baseman did hit .328 with four homers against LHP in 2015, so even though he’ll likely bat in the bottom third of the lineup, I like this play a lot.

Matt Carpenter, 3B: $5,000 – It will be a hefty price to pay, but Carpenter is facing Wily Peralta and is 16-for-35 (.457) lifetime with three home runs

Josh Donaldson, 3B: $4,700 – Paying up at third base is a must on Tuesday night and if you’re skeptical about using Carpenter, go with Donaldson. He’s batting .340 against LHP pitching this season and possesses elite home run potential.

Aledmys Diaz, SS: $3,900 – Following a theme here, but with a right-handed hitter, Diaz faces off against Wily Peralta. Honestly, if I could play the entire Cardinals lineup, I would. That’s how awful Peralta is.

Brandon Crawford, SS: $3,700 – Crawford has been hitting well as of late (.292 over the last week) and owns all of his six home runs against left-handed pitching. He’s a solid mid-tier option on Tuesday against Matt Wisler and the Braves.

Carlos Gonzalez, OF: $5,200 – Cargo is totally locked in at the plate. He is 16-for-32 (.500) since May 23 and has hit four home runs. Jon Moscot is starting for Cincinnati on Tuesday and will be no match for the Coors fueled lefty.

Lorenzo Cain, OF: $4,500 – If you’re looking for a low owned outfielder with a ton of upside, go with Cain. He gets a tough matchup against Drew Smyly, but he’s also batting .359 against LHP this season giving him plenty of upside.

Corey Dickerson, OF: $3,800 – Dickerson has been underwhelming since joining the Rays, but he still has eight home runs on the year. It helps that he is 3-for-6 lifetime with a home run against Tuesday’s starter Dillon Gee.

Michael Conforto, OF: $3,800 – Conforto is batting just .174 during the month of May, so he definitely isn’t riding a hot streak headed into Tuesday’s matchup. The good news here is Conforto faces a human gas can in Mat Latos. It’s a great way to finish the month strong.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

There is a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms in both Kansas City and Denver on Tuesday evening, but otherwise the rest of the country looks dry.

Doing Lines in Vegas

There are plenty of stacking options on Tuesday night. The obvious choices are Houston, Minnesota, Colorado, St. Louis, and Toronto. If you’re looking for something off the cuff, try the Pirates against Jose Fernandez or Seattle against James Shields.
