With roughly 11 games left in the MLB season, picking players to write about can get tricky over at DraftKings.  Why is it tricky? Well for starters look at the Nationals lineup last night – not one player in that lineup is a regular starter.  On the flip side it can help you find value in pitching, which is always a plus.  Some guys you wouldn’t generally use at pitcher become more appealing.  The only problem with this for writers is we usually write our articles well before lineups are posted, but thankfully there is twitter and a comments section.

Felix Hernandez, P: $11,800 – The Mariners are fighting for one of the last wild card spots – and they face a tough task playing in Anaheim.  King Felix has has owned the Angels throughout his career and this season, averaging close to 33 DraftKings points against them so far.  With a lot at stake for the Mariners, I expect the King Felix to bring his A game.

Danny Salazar, P: $7,800 – Salazar takes on the Houston Astros tonight in Houston.  Salazar has bounced back nicely in the second half after a pretty crappy first half.  This is a great spot for Salazar since the Indians – like the Mariners – are in the hunt for a playoff spot and it seems as though the Astros checked out.  The Astros struggle against right handed pitchers, and Salazar could be a candidate for 10 strikeouts tonight.

Drew Stubbs, OF: $4,200 – Stubbs is fairly priced for a guy who gets to abuse Vidal Nuno in Colorado today.  If you follow me on Twitter or read my articles, you should know I love picking on Nuno.  The bonus is that Stubbs has been hitting cleanup versus lefties recently, and he’s been seeing the ball quite well.

Scott Van Slyke, OF: $3,200 – It seems as if every time I write, the Dodgers play a weak left handed pitcher, which means SVS is an automatic mention.  Van Slyke is strictly a tournament play, as he could go 0-4 with four strikeouts or go 4-4 with two dongs.  Use Andy’s son in your GPP’s and he will save you few bucks.

Aaron Hill, 2B: $3,900 – Hill is an intriguing option in Coors Field.  He still has a bit of power left in his tank and with the way the ball carries in Coors, it could be beneficial to him.  With a left handed pitcher on the mound for the Rockies, I expect Hill to be batting second which should give him more at bats.

Yadier Molina, C: $3,500 – Molina is my BVP play of the day.  Historically he has had success against Kyle Lohse with 11 extra base hits, three dongs and a .550 batting average in 20 at bats.  Molina’s price is bit high considering he has been pretty cold as of late but based on BVP and upside, this could be a sneaky play.

Kendrys Morales, 1B/OF: $3,000 – Morales is strictly a revenge play.  I love taking players playing against their former teams, and Morales usually does well when visiting Anaheim.  If you need need to save some money to fit King Felix into your lineup, I wouldn’t be against slotting Kendrys in one of my three outfield spots – speaking of outfield eligibility has this guy ever played outfield in his life???

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

Everything looks good for today.  The two games that have a threat of rain are being played in stadiums that have domes. As always, keep an eye out during the day to see if things change.

Doing Lines in Vegas

The highest total of the day is between the Arizona Diamondbacks at Colorado Rockies which is set at 10.5.  I am not against stacking players from either team, but I would be shocked one bit if this game goes under.

The biggest favorite of the day is Gerrit Cole at -210 against the Boston Red Sox, the total is set at 7.5.
