Don't be shellfish...Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterShare on Google+

So far I’ve spent my opening paragraph telling you who to pick up and roll with.  It’s been a mixed bag to say the least and by that I mean rose petals with kitty litter clumpings in with it.  King Felix did fine on Monday.  Thankfully none of you had to experience the Klub upside the head on Tuesday.  And right now it’s only the second inning on Tyson Ross and it’s not exactly going great…but hey listen to me I know what I’m talking about!  So my lead in isn’t to warn you off of starting Phil Hughes today.  That’s a gimme and as much as I need a cheap win, I’m not taking it.  Nah, I’m taking this moment to tell you to load up on power hitters in Chi-Town.  Though I’ll like Hughes in his home starts here and there in the future, I’m telling you to get some Chicago bop into your lineup as Hughes had a 46.5 FB% last year.  If he had pitched all year, that would’ve been second best.  Or is that second worst?  Yeah, second worst.  Don’t believe me?  Even the Hitter-Tron is telling ya to buy in as Jose Abreu is the top spot on his dirty little list and is an easy pickup at $3,800.  And Adam Dunn is 4th if you wanna get a little cheaper at $3,700.  Sadly, you can’t get both into your lineup.  No DH Draftkings?  What is this, the senior circuit of Daily Fantasy Sports?  And just for fun, I decided to peek in and see what the $3,700 priced Hughes looked like on the Stream-O-Nator…yup, he sucks.  A ChiSox stack is definitely in play.  Ok, now that we’ve established all that, let’s move on…to another link!  Don’t forget about our Razzball Draftkings Contest this Friday.  Go reserve a spot.  It’s a VIP thing (not really).  And there will be free drinks in the lobby (it’s really BYOB).  Ok now on with the show.  Here’s our picks for 4/3/2014 contests for Draftkings 2014 Fantasy Baseball…

Jose Quintana, SP: $7,400 – The Stream-O-Nator is close to liking him.  I have my doubts as well but since I can’t tell you to start Wandy Rodriguez (yes, I did) nor Lance Lynn (that’s probably a blessing in disguise and no I didn’t), I guess you’re gonna have to take what you can get.

Anibal Sanchez, SP: $9,300 – Don’t fight it.  Yeah, he’s the most expensive.  He’s also the top Stream-O-Nator pitcher so it all makes sense.  As Pearl Jam would say, I’d rather be with an Anibal.  Game PPD

Yordano Ventura, SP: $5,300 – He could strike out 12 in five innings, he could get struck with a million line drives and be out by the 2nd inning.  That’s why he’s the cheapest pitcher.  No data equals no start.  Could be a nice contrarian play if you’re feeling like you wanna Gamble.  Don’t feel bad if you do, Rudy feels a Gamble whenever he can.  Game PPD

Yoenis Cespedes, OF: $4,200 – He’s been pretty hot and the Hitter-Tron has noticed as he’s stated, and I quote, I’d like to touch Yoenis.   Should I be worried he whispered that into my ear?  Maybe I misheard…oh and you can take this as a suggestion that starting a few A’s in your lineup ain’t a bad thing since it’ll be a rook for Seattle taking the mound.  Yes, even Derek Norris.

Pablo Sandoval, 3B: $3,800 – I think I pimped him yesterday.  I don’t know what he did yesterday.  I think it was good.  Don’t go look, you’ll ruin the moment!  This is another top 10 Hitter-tron call.  Don’t like it, call him on it.  Just don’t be surprised if he talks dirty on the phone when you do.

Will Middlebrooks, 3B: $4,100 – More expensive than Pablo and probably more of a risk to underperform since he’s started the year 0/7 with 3 K’s.  I’ll take the over on the over/underperform for Will on this day.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

The early tilts have already started so if you didn’t know it there was a chance of rain in Cincy or Pittsburgh and it did, well…weather.com is all I can say.  The DETvsKC game has already been cancelled.  It might be a day to avoid getting your money into this whole DFS thing.  I know, I know, not what you wanted to hear.  The slate of safe games is getting smaller than the amount of actual human skin still left in Joan Rivers‘ face.  an Oakland stack late is making more and more sense.  There’s also going to be very little room for a unique lineup unless people aren’t as mindful of the weather as the Royal We are.

Doing Lines In Vegas

BALvsBOS at 9: This game also has a 50% chance of precipitation.  When someone told you to keep your DK funds for a rainy day, I don’t think this was what was meant.

HOUvsNYY at 8: Only other game of note on hand as there’s a pitcher named Brett Oberholtzer on the mound for the Astros which I believe is German for ‘bad pitcher’.  That said, given the slow start for the Yanks hitters, I have a hard time suggesting a stack here.

Why do American’s pronounce Hughes like Uuuuu’s anyway? It’s nothing like it. Same with Allen Craig being pronounced as Allen Creg.

Us Brits say them as H-u-s-ee, and C-r-a-ig.

Useless subject sorry just always thought they were funny ways to say their names.

(yeah I have no interest in Phil Hughes the pitcher sry)

So ‘through’ is thruh on your side of the world?

      • Swfcdan says:

@Sky: Nope we both pronounce them the same.

      • Swfcdan says:
        (link)

@Sky: So do you normally pronounce words with ‘a-i’ as an ‘e’? Am guessing not as ‘raid’ for example would be r-e-d and that surely sounds wrong lol.

Oh yeah one last gripe, aluminium. You guys say it a-l-u-m-i-n-u-m without the 2nd i ! It’s a-l-u-m-i-n-i-u-m.

@Swfcdan: You’ve been saying it all wrong. The “S” is at the end of Hughes. How could it be H-u-s-ee?

      • Swfcdan says:
        (link)

@Bream Dreams: Actually yeah its more like H-u-sss.

Not bashing on the way you guys talk, just thought it’s wierd the way you say some names/words.

But then I guess you guys think we all speak proper posh lol, not nearly the case with a lot of people.

I have Moustakas in a deep league, can flip him for Pineda..time to give up on Moose once and for all?

@anthony: That’s a needs question. No idea what deep means nor what your lineup looks like so it’s a tough call. I’m inclined to hold.

I started Zimmerman thinking he was actually starting. Even ESPN had him listed as the starter. There goes that entry fee…

I have four month old twins, so I was lucky enough to sneak getting a lineup in at all this morning. Maybe I’ll get lucky and others will miss the rain outs and leave holes there.

BTW, the pitchers for tomorrow night’s Razzball contest look u-g-l-y…

Ugh Phil Hughes screwed me last year during one draft kings event. He got me -12 points!!! I will never again go with him. He’s dead to me!

Tomorrow’s Razzball event is gonna be a blast! Hopefully weather chills the eff out for it!

Sky who you like better kelton wong or chris owings?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

I like Wong more, talent-wise, but I think Owings gets the counting stats because he won’t be pulled in and out of the lineup as much. I’d lean Owings for that reason.

      • Joe G says:
        (link)

@Sky: there is Billy butler and chris owings in the trash which one you recomend me to pick up ?

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

That depends on team needs. Do you need a 1B or an SS? Would you start either if they were on your team? Who are you dropping for them? Both should be good for average with a little pop (more for Butler) but Owings would add some steals.

          • Joe G says:
            (link)

@Sky: i have jose reyes in DL and i have johnny Peralta in his spot but i would like to rotate him with chris owings or leave Peralta and put Billy butler in utililty…. I had Peralta in utility since reyes is hurt i put him SS

Gotcha. Put Butler in your UTIL; I’m not a huge Peralta fan but I’d like to see how he does with that Cardinals lineup.

@Sky: thanks for the advice i will drop kelton wong and get Billy butler and live Peralta in the SS
