Don't be shellfish...Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterShare on Google+

If you believe in luck, it’s been a bad scene for me lately. In the span of 48 hours, I lost my front tooth, totaled my car, and forgot to tell my starting shortstop to stay the hell away from Ryan Braun‘s backswing. I’m also 1-5 on the year with my over/under picks for those of you who are keeping track. Oh well. There are some who say we make our own luck. That’s all I’m trying to do with these posts really. I take the information available to me via tools such as the Hitter-Tron and Stream-o-Nator and make the best recommendations I can to help you win. But even the best information can’t protect us from Jean Segura walking into a bat or Francisco Liriano getting a nosebleed. If you are new to the site, be sure to sign up via our DraftKings promo link. Also, if you’d like to play against myself and a few friends in a free contest today, click here. You can win bragging rights for a whole week!

Hyun-Jin Ryu ($8,800) is third overall on the Stream-o-Nator today, but that only confirmed my choice to put him in my lineup. The Rockies are a good offense, but they’ve done most of their damage at home (duh). Ryu has been brilliant outside of one bad start. His K/9 on the year sits at 7.4 and he’s kept his BB/9 under 3. That, in combination with his 46% GB%, is the secret formula for solid pitching. I think he’ll handle the Rockies lineup in his home park today and give the Dodgers and DFS players a great chance to win. There are nine other pitchers that will cost you more today, so if you run him out there you can spend a little more on your hitting. Here are my other DraftKings highlights for 4/27/2014…

Danny Salazar, SP: $5,800 – So I’m guessing people have soured on Salazar given he costs under $6K this week, but Stream-O-Nator still likes the youngster for this start against the Giants ($13.5). I’m as frustrated as anybody by the pitching staff’s performance, but Salazar still has electric stuff and there’s a reason he was drafted where he was heading into the season. If I’m going to take a risk on him, it’s today at this price in that park. He can’t hurt me any more than Masterson did, right? Right?

Wil Myers, OF: $3,800 – Myers at under $4K is a good deal for somebody who’s listed in the top twenty on the Hitter-Tron. He’s had hits in each of his last four games, and could have an outburst like last weekend’s at any time. He’s got a favorable match-up against Scott Carroll in Chicago today.

Carlos Gomez, OF: $4,800 – You know what I used to do in school when I knew I had detention later that week? I turned up my swagger and acted like I had nothing to lose. Gomez is already a great player and a fantasy monster. While his swagger dial is probably already maxed out, I think he’ll have a nice day against Jason Hammel.

Paul Goldschmidt, 1B: $4,400 – Phillies and D-Backs stacks might be a good play today as the game is sitting at 9 1/2. Goldschmidt is my pick at first base today thanks because of his price and the home match-up against a nicked-up A.J. Burnett.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

There’s a chance of rain for TB@CWS, PIT@STL, and DET@MIN. Wind could also be a factor for the Twins game. It’s blowing in from left at Target Field.

Doing Lines In Vegas

I’ll take the under for CLE@SF (8 1/2) and the over for CHC@MIL (7 1/2). I need these two. No whammies!

*Only two spots left to play against my lineup in today’s free contest.*

        • @Mike:
Luckily Ian Kennedy stepped up for me today, down 8 with a few bats each left to go, than I have Tanaka tonight and he has Trout. Should be a great finish..Lets GO Yankees!!

Mike: I’m writing you from a secret place. Let me tell ya, these Draft King collection department knuckle dragging neanderthals play for keeps.

They chased me for blocks the other day. Lucky, I was on my souped up handicapped candy apple red mobility scooter when I ran into them. Old Betsy really moves out when she wants to.

Can you believe this! One of them was dressed and looked just like Rocky Balboa – complete with the fedora, neck twitch and snuffles. Scary, that!

I’ll never play Draft Kings again, I promise. And tell them, the checks in the mail for me, would ya?

One question; is a 1% interest per day past due legal in America? Not that these guys would ever know or care about the meaning of the word, “legal”.

D Salazar is in need of a mind meld reality check in the minors if he is bad again today.

ha! I may need to borrow the mobility scooter now that my Buick is toast.

it’s all or nothing for me and Danny boy today

conflicted???? who to drop and venture for new SP and is Bucs RP Melachon worth a waiver pickup? Strailey, Archer or Jessie Chavez to drop

    • The Thumb says:
      (link)

@clintock: Melancon should be owned in all leagues regardless of whether he’s getting saves or not. Punt Strailey. Grey mentioned this a few days ago but if he hadn’t led the MiLB in K’s for half a season in 2012, he wouldn’t even be in the fantasy discussion

If my 2 starting catchers are Grandal and Suzuki, would you put a minimal FAAB bid on Dioner Navarro dropping Suzuki but otherwise being content if team that last week dropped Navarro and spent nearly a $100 out of $1000 FAAB on Russell Martin spends big $$$ to pick Navarro back up?

DJ Lemahieu, Espinosa, Gennett, and Derek Dietrich are available to pick up for me dropping Brad Miller. Have Rendon, Andrelton, and Gyrko starting in 2B, SS, and MI slots. Is Gennett only one worth dropping Miller for reasoning being Dietrich/Espinosa both all or nothing types as well, Lemahieu empty BA with smattering of SB once in a while?

Same deal with Ethier. Start 5 OF, I have Heyward, Yelich, Revere, Duda, Ethier, De Aza, Chris Carter. Is Ethier droppable for David Murphy or Kubel? Not really wanting to drop for platoon guys like Dickerson or all/nothing types.

I’m going with the “flipper” fake tooth. Might have to start writing for Razz hockey :)

If Danny Salazar could go like 6 IP 2 ER 7 base runners and 9 Ks today, you have no idea how ecstatic I would be. Is that sad?

    • Mike

      Mike says:

      HaHa. not sad at all.

At what point do Teheran’s lack of K’s become a concern? He’s becoming Bartolo 2012 out there. Still useful but not what I expected

Stream o nator nailed the Salazar start for me but I was wondering if I should burn my #1 waiver claim on Lohse? Hes off on monday and im curious to see if he makes it through waivers

    • Mike

      Mike says:
      (link)

Sure did. I like Lohse, but I don’t think I’d burn a #1 claim for him.

        @Mike:

Woke up and no one claimed him so he’s mine for no waiver claim

        @Mike:

Yeah I cashed out on some games last night thanks to Altuve as well. Looking forward to more in the future. I’m not touching any pitchers against COL for a while, I knew he’d get rocked. Almost took Cueto and Salazar but Wainwright did the job.

          For sure. Altuve was huge.
