I hate bloop singles. I despise watching my pitcher give up a run because a guy got jammed up inside and sent it between first base and left field. It doesn’t even feel right when my guy who is 0-3 on the day (trust me, this happens often) drops one between the infielders and outfielders on a lucky blooper. Sometimes though, it takes a blooper or 2 to have success… Like my 2 RBI bloop single in my slow pitch softball league the other night, but we won’t talk about that. What we do need to talk about though, is Lorenzo Cain. This guy is a stud. I wouldn’t doubt that he would be good at whatever sport he attempts because he is such an athlete. He now finally gets away from all these pitchers parks and gets a sweet matchup at US Cellular. Oh… and he’s getting on base at a rate of .479 on the young season and driving the ball extremely well. I look forward to rostering him today.

Felix Hernandez, P: $11,300 – King Felix probably has the best chance at a win of any pitcher going today. He’s facing Phil Hughes, and his offense loves to hit right handed pitching. You’ll be rewarded for paying up for him. The Ks and innings will be there.

Gerrit Cole, P: $8,200 – Ever since he was drafted first overall by the Pirates in 2011 MLB draft, we knew he had ace potential. With this start to the season, he is finally beginning to live up to it. The DBacks are 11th in the league in Ks/game so Cole should have his fair share of strikeouts. Roster Cole without hesitation.

Jose Abreu, 1B: $5,400 – We all saw last season what Abreu can do when he heats up. He has 2 home runs the last 3 days, and has a nice matchup with a lefty at home. He has as good a chance as anyone to hit one out today.

Curtis Granderson, OF: $3,900 – Here is your “revenge game” of the day for you narrative street lovers. Granderson returns to Yankee stadium where he was no stranger to home runs in the lefty friendly park. Oh, and he just happens to be 4 for his last 8 with 4 RBI’s over 3 games.

Matt Carpenter, 3B: $4,800 – I wonder if Matt Garza knows the song “I ain’t as good as I once was.” It would be very fitting. He is sporting a 5.40 ERA on the season, and has just simply looked terrible. Matt Carpenter may be the best leadoff hitter in baseball right now and has some pop. I also really like Matt Adams in this game.

Gregory Polanco, OF: $4,500 – Polanco is young, but it is already evident that he is a very streaky hitter. There are times at the plate where he looks completely lost. There are other times where you might as well intentionally walk him. Right now is one of those times.

Corey Dickerson, OF: $5,300 – 3 home runs in 2 days and playing in Coors? Let’s do it.

Doing Lines in Vegas

While we expect the high Coors Field O/U, Vegas seems to think that the Boston/Baltimore and the Cleveland/Detroit games will have plenty of runs as well.
