Hyun-Jin Ryu, known as “the monster,” will be making his first start back from the disabled list tonight against the Giants. He’s projected for just 9.5 points on Draft, making him an outstanding value play for what should be a stellar outing. The Giants have just a .300 wOBA versus lefties this year and play in one of the most pitcher-friendly environments in baseball. While he hasn’t pitched since May, Ryu tore it up through his first six starts, posting a 31.3% K-rate with a 3.16 FIP. There’s always some risk in starting a pitcher coming off of the DL, but the upside strongly outweighs the cost for Ryu.

Kevin Gausman, SP: Gausman has been frustrating and inconsistent all season, but you’d have to think he’ll be able to put up a good start against the Marlins. He diced up the Brewers in his last time out, throwing eight shutout innings with eight strikeouts. Miami has the third-lowest wOBA against righties at .293, and the scorching hot Braves lineup should easily get him the win.

Freddie Freeman, IF: Speaking of the Braves lineup, Freeman’s got homers in back-to-back games and has a .959 OPS in the last 15 days. Atlanta is a launching pad in mid-August, so I’d be willing to take him as my first hitter.

Jose Abreu, IF: I’m still not convinced that Jordan Zimmermann isn’t a pumpkin, and his 1.51 HR/9 gives me hope for Abreu to go deep.

Nelson Cruz, IF: Cruz has annihilated left-handed pitching to the tune of a 164 wRC+ this year.

Jeff McNeil, IF: McNeil is a solid grab towards the end of drafts as he bats second for the Mets in an extreme hitter’s park in Baltimore. He might not have a ton of upside, but his minuscule 9.1% K-rate gives him a very high floor.

Starling Marte, OF: Marte is a nice buy-low against Jose Berrios, who has had some struggles lately. Marte has gone bonkers this year with 17 homers and 28 steals, and he can near single-handedly win you a contest.

Christian Yelich, OF: The wind will be blowing OUT in Wrigley, which means that hitters will be teeing off. Kyle Hendricks is kinda trash, so it should be a fun day for Yelich and Lorenzo Cain atop the Brewers lineup.

Eddie Rosario, OF: I’m not worried about Rosario’s slump – he’s still got a 139 wRC+ against righties and Chris Archer has struggled with Pittsburgh.

Marcell Ozuna, OF: Cheap power flier as the Cardinals cleanup man against Jeremy Hellickson.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

Chance of thunderstorms towards the end of the Brewers-Cubs matchup but I wouldn’t be too worried about it.
