I know Andrus as struggled of late, but it’s got to be him. Andino/Betancourt/Renteria dont belong in the conversation at all.

Scutaro has been getting on base, which is good, but he’ll only bring a handful of runs. I like Pennington (he was my Rollins replacement in one league), but I’m not sure he does enough to overcome the steals/runs boost from Andrus.

I think the Yankees know that if they’re going to be successful in the play-offs they need Hughes. So he should get a relatively long rope.

However that doesnt mean he needs to be anywhere near your roster — his fastball velocity has dipped and he isnt trusting the pitch whatsoever (is throwing it 56% of the time compared to 64% last year). It was a huge pitch for him last season, so that’s pretty damaging.

He’s a low end match-ups guy at this point — if Oakland destroys him, who is he safe against? Seattle?

Yeah, clearly the swinging and missing for Carp is dangerous. However it is a bit out of line with most of his career to date – in addition, he is walking a bit less than one would expect.

I think he just got so hot/lucky at the start that the ball looked like a beach ball to him — i believe he’ll adjust and get his swagger back.

hmm: Hochevar-Duffy-Felipe Paulino(who i rather like) seem like a solid four.

Neither Chen nor Francis are under contract for next season. Mike Montgomery doesnt seem close at all. Might they try to stretch Aaron Crow out? That would make some sense. As of now, #5 is murky.

Yeah that sample is not looking good and the swinging and missing numbers (which I wrote a few days ago) certainly did portend a bad story. But if any rook can handle this type of bump, its a guy with Carp’s skillset. I’m hoping he learns to use his plate discipline from this and could bounceback in a major way in mid-September.

Definitely tread lightly (as you point out) now, but not be afraid to drop him back in your line-ups at the first sign he has things figured out.

Only player who is now starting to hit his regression is Carp. He will be a serviceable player and a nice deep league keeper for dynasty leagues but look at his past 7 days.

I think so (I mean Ichiro has for years…Brett Boone, etc). Just need good hitters. Look at what Adrian Gonzalez did in Petco – ballpark didnt really hold him back.

Still, the ballpark is a detriment, but you take that into account when looking at projections. Carp in Chicago would profile to have more power. But, given his ability to take a pitch here and there, i think he will have a smooth major league career (as smooth as life in baseball ever is that is…)

Carp is going to have growing pains given his swing percentage, but he can get on base, certainly better than Trumbo.

That said, Trumbo is probably good for 5 or so more HRs, albeit with a .250/.300 line, while Carp probably doesnt hit that many bombs (3-5) but with a .270/.330 line ROTW
