Don't be shellfish...Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterShare on Google+

Well, I keep going deep on these calls and keep digging a bigger hole so I figure why stop?  Let’s dig straight to Italy.  Why didn’t I say China you ask?  Because that little boot of a country had the player I’m talking about this week on its National team this year.  Which is really weird when you consider his wiki page says he’s an American.  Um, don’t you have to be of said nationality to play for said nationality?  Sounds like the standards for playing for a National team are pretty loose.  I’d love to see the fill-out sheet to join.  Wonder if it looks like this.  Well, never mind, these things matter not.  What DOES matter is Chris Colabello looks like a nice power pickup for week 24 of our 2013 Fantasy Baseball season…

I know you don’t believe.  I don’t think my last two weeks of calling Dustin Ackley and Michael Morse aid me in any way to begin with and now I’m telling you to pick up a 29-year-old rookie who’s hitting .216 and striking out nearly 33% of the time.  It’s not a sexy pick for sure.  But I didn’t wanna cheat and tell you to pick up guys who’re universally owned in competitive leagues.  So I couldn’t bring myself to say ‘pick up Avisail Garcia‘ or ‘nab Alex Presley‘.  But now that you’ve read that, you can go check your FA pool and see if someone left them out there just for you…see, I can help in multiple ways!  But of course, neither of those guys are the topic.  As you can clearly tell from the title, we’re here to talk about odd, old commercials about throat lozenges.  Well, that and Colabello.  Entering Saturday morning, Chris has been on a bit of a tear of late as over his last 7 games he’s 8/23 with 3 homeruns and 4 walks, good for a crazy hot .348/.444/.783 slash line.  Granted, that comes with 8 Ks during that stretch as well, which isn’t exactly a purdy thing and could definitely be a problem for him if he starts not making contact.  But we’re here for power and power only right now and power Colabello has.  The best part about picking him up for this week?  All three of the teams he faces are in the bottom 10 (Toronto tied for 2nd/Angels tied for 7th/A’s tied for 10th) for homeruns allowed.  I can’t promise he’ll stay hitting as hot as his average, but if you leave this week with .250 to .260 with a couple of dingers, will you really complain?  You would?  Well, aren’t you picky.  In either case, Colabello is pretty much not owned right now in any league so you won’t be competing with anyone to pick him up.  I heard that ‘and for good reason’ back there, reader!  In the end, if you need a little power pick me up, Chris has the setup this week to not disappoint.  So put on your lederhosen, go grab your alphorn and head to Italy…wait, what?

@Oliver: That’s a needs thing. Colabello if you need power, Presley if you need speed.

Hola, I’m writing this from Spain- on a lil vaca then back home to USA, lol it’s hard to keep track of what’s going on because most of the time my phone doesn’t work- only when I have Wi fi & I lucked out now!

For my league this is week two of round one of the playoffs; here are the pitchers I’m rolling with: David Price, Jordan Zimmerman , Francisco Liriano , Refielf pitchers : Craig kimbrel, and Jerome Williams (because of the RP eligibility), if I didn’t add Williams I was looking into Torres from the mets.

    My hitters:

    C- Carlos Santana

    1b- Paul goldschmidnt

    2b- Ben zobrist

    3b- Martin Prado

    Ss- Ian Desmond

    IF- mike Napoli

    OF- Giancarlo Stanton

    OF- Alex rios

    OF- Puig

    OF- Chris Collabelo

    DH- David Ortiz

    Utility- Brandon belt

Bench- Dom brown, Matt kemp & David wright

    - reason I started Collabelo over Dom brown is his Achilles is a huge question mark.

Other OF’ers available are Adam eaton, Eric Young Jr, Aoki brewers, Yelich marlins, junior lake, billy Hamilton , and Bonifacio

    – would you keep or drop belt for a-rod?

    Thanks

So are you asking if you should pick up some of those OF over Collabelo? The other guys? All 5 you listed are for speed/runs. Could see dropping Colabello for either EYJ, Eaton, or Bonifacio if I needed steals.

Sure, nothing wrong with A-Rod for Belt but if this isn’t a keeper, why are you holding onto David Wright and Matt Kemp?

      @Sky:

Sorry yea it’s basically between Colabelo , benificio, Adam eaton , young jr,

Or keep colabelo and drop belt (utility slot) for either EYJ, Adam eaton or a-rod

Pitching question- do you like Torres from the mets or Jerome Williams better this week?

Good question to why I haven’t dropped wright or kemp, I was just holding out hope that they would return

@Jake: I’ll go NL over AL any day. Take Torres.

You’ve got bench players who aren’t playing and I don’t see any of them returning too soon. Kemp’s team is winning/making the playoffs so he’ll take as long as he needs. Wright’s team is going nowhere. I’d drop from there first before I drop guys I could start. EYJ/Eaton for them and probably Colabello for A-Rod; Belt’s at least proven to be moderately productive over the course of the season.
