Thanks for reading!

Yeah, just like anywhere you're not playing only with people you know, some people sign up and never play; others drop out when their season is not going well.

It is tough to develop a formula that will take everything in to consideration, but I think Rudy's formula that rewards the leagues with the best statistics is pretty good. He's always willing to listen to ideas on improving it, but obviously there's no simple answer.

I have been thinking about having people email me this season with the possibility of inviting them to join a "winner's league" or maybe even just leagues for anyone who stays active all year.

I think I would want the information before next spring so I could check out the teams involved.

Thanks for the updates. I read them each week. Playing in the Commenters League is quite the challange. Curiosity got the best of me, so I took a look at the top of the leader board. Here's my two cents... I was a bit surprised to see that of the top 8 teams in the standings, half of those leagues only have 6 teams actively participating. Another league has 5 inactive teams. Only 3 of the top 8 teams are in leagues with at least 75 percent active participation. Of course, the ECBL leads the way with 100 percent participation, while RCL 5 has 10 active teams and Too Drunk to Call a Cabrera has 9 to 10 (depending on how you look at it) active teams. Based on participation, I think you've got it right. Randomized Italicized Voice is the top of the leader board. The Ville Al Koholic (his A team) should be given consideration for the top spot, however, as his league is, lights out, the best of the bunch. The third spot would be up for grabs, simply because of the wide variations in league participation, but Team Beefcake would get my nod based on the high level of participation in his league, To Drunk to Call a Cabrera.
Clearly, the level of legue participation influences overall success. I had previously suggested inviting this year's league winners to be in leagues all their own, next year. I still think that's a great idea, bet even better would be to invite the top 12 teams in the standings to be in a "super league", next year. It would be fun!
