I generally find this kind of Closer report not to be useful. I mean, it's a ranked list. I know who the good closers are and who the blechy ones are and... it doesn't matter. If they get saves and they're cheap or free (FA pickups), they are certainly for me. SAGNOF! for god's sake.

(I guess it kind of helps if you're in some wacky shallow league and closers with jobs are on the waiver wire. But then you're a fag who can't even find at least 11 other fags to play fantasy baseball with, so you're stuck with 9 other fags who have nothing better to do. WELL DONE.)

But what IF? What if we applied some method of assessing risk of real-world trade to the list at this point of the season? Nothing fancy. You wouldn't have to hijack some BP or Fangraphs jerkenstein to script you an algorithm. Take it easy, man, it's cool.

If we did, wouldn't the Street become a Brain Freeze? Sherrill too? And also etc?

I'm just saying, that might help people decide who to deal out of their Closer stash and cache, and who to be wary of acquiring.

Then again, this site earns no revenue (so American contemporary, we broke yo!) and I'm up at 2:20 AM writing this. Whatever.

Think it's time to pick up Downs again? Sounds like he'll be back either on the 3rd or after the ASB...

Possibly I need to stop expecting him to win every time out ;-)

@Steve: Criticism deserving, when he gives it up to the pitcher. Just sticking up for Bills. Feel your pain on wins slipping away. I have high-priced pitching that is being matched by low-priced pitching in Wins. To make it worse, he's in first, me in second.

May your wins hold up!
