so i was told yesterday my pitching is weak, which it is when J.Johnson n Danks r my aces in a 10 team points league. So i’m shopping around and i have some1 willing to give up Lester for my Ethier/GalarRags.. but i’m pushing Cruz/GalaRags instead.

should i keep pushin, and if it doesnt pan out give in with Ethier??

and is Victorino enough to get Liriano?

i have Rios, Kemp, Hermida as my other OF.

I think i’m addicted to trading..at least 3 more

re: liriano’s monthly averages, and needing some time to get going: just looked this up.

april this year: bad.
april 2008: 11.32 ERA in three starts fresh off TJ. didn’t show up in the majors again until august. footnote: lit up in 2 of his last 3 starts.
april 2007: didn’t pitch all year.
april 2006: was still in the bullpen, only threw 14 innings all month (3.77, from one horrible 5 ER outing).

not sure that’s really a clear-cut trend of slow starts followed by may-june surges: in fact, it’s so not a trend, he’s never done that exact thing even once. first he was just good, in 2006. then he had surgery. then he tried to come back with different healthier mechanics, and he was bad. then he took two months off to get his old mechanics back and he was good again. now he’s bad. why? who knows. not me.

@Grey: yeah, i know, the risky pitchers list. you know what? screw that. so he was in the pen for most of 07. i think ability trumps it. most guys of his caliber don't wind up in that situation, so i'm not sure how predictive it'll be looking at similarly-shaped track records. don't get me wrong, i understand the concerns and it's worth noting, but i think at this point the biggest risk attached to greinke is the risk that he's this year's lincecum and you wind up feeling like a doofus for putting him on the risky pitchers list.

@Grey: Along those same lines, what do you think of Fields in a keeper format? We keep 4 guys out of each draft class. 26 man rosters, 10 team league. Each year we name a 4-year, 3-year, 2-year and 1-year keeper, so a total of 100 players are kept going into next year's draft. I got Adam Jones, Joe Mauer, Clayton Kershaw, Derek Jetah, Max Scherzer, Adam Wainwright, Josh Fields (out of free agency post draft), James Loney, Kelly Johnson and Encarnacion all this year in addtion to some schmos I have no intention of keeping (such as closers, for example). Do you like Fields for a year or two better than Kershaw or Wainwright or Loney or Jetah? I'm hoping Jones and Mauer can be by 4- and 3- year guys.

@wily mo: You are not nobody anymore! You are a Razzball commenter now!! Greinke and Shields are close, 20 ADPs apart on ESPN for the most part and it's probably a coin flip who finishes higher. Track record, injury risk, home division....When it comes down to it though I'd want a Rays pitcher over a KC pitcher.
