Another week closer to the end. Well my friends, it is getting to be that time, crunch time. I wish they sold some kind of crunch machine for this time of the year, as every start becomes more important than the last. As you are calculating your starts remaining, innings remaining, and most inevitably the trade deadline in your leagues, take a look at where you’re trailing. It is now the time to do something about it, not yesterday or in 3 days. This is why we do all that preparation for the draft and read countless blurbs about players. We want to win or at least look good doing it. So take this week to make your final push, because it feels better to try and lose then to not care at all. Good luck and happy fantasy baseballin’. (Please keep in mind that match-ups and pitchers change.)
Blake Beavan (Tb vs Cobb, Min vs Deduno) Leave it to Beavan, not literally but figuratively. Please, blog, may I have some more?
So my weekly piece comes on the heels of the awesomely fantastic Stream-o-nator, which was dropped by the other fellas that run this piece. It is a great little widget for fantasy baseball and a great stocking stuffer for the kids come Festivus. So what else happened in the week since we checked each other out, and, by check you out I mean I was in your neighbor’s tree and all I can say is I like what you have done with your furniture. Oh… not that checking, gotcha, we are officially on the same page now. So the trade deadline dropped some great nuggets of fantasy usefulness, not much in my department of 2-start lads, but still some. Please, blog, may I have some more?
This week could end up being a jumbled up mess with the trade deadline, so that is my fair warning salvo. With only a handful of weeks remaining, it is getting to be put up or shut up — or fantasy football prep. I mean, as fun as the drafting is, isn’t it better to finish what you started way back in March. I know the trade deadline may or may not throw monkey wrenches into real life baseball, but we play fake baseball with mythical stallions and our sword is a mouse. I mean, what’s more intimidating than having the ability to right click somebody, I know I just shivered. Please, blog, may I have some more?
These weeks just seem to be flying by, I know that seems cliche and tacky. We are at the trade deadline practically and it seems as though there are a lot of teams looking to buy, and some very intriguing names that are on the market right now. Starting pitching makes the fantasy world go round, it’s the truth, I slowed it down and saw Cliff Lee on a bicycle attached to it, pedaling. I can’t make that type of stuff up. So it seems like this week is a real ball em and rank em scenario. Not very many great options that are standing out for me. Please, blog, may I have some more?
What happened to baseball? It was here, then we were put to sleep by that snoozefest they call the all-star game. Now, I don’t know about you, but the all-star break is like sports hell; best option to watch was the WNBA, really. I actually started a puzzle, that’s how bored I was. Please, blog, may I have some more?
The week leading up to the All Star break is always fun times for me — it’s when I can take my paid vacation to beautiful Bayonne, NJ. My all-inclusive cab ride includes a firsthand view of a few muggings, a stop for gas, and a flavored shaved ice from Primo, the traveling shaved ice guy. In all seriousness, this is a good time to look at your roster and actually commit to it or start pondering the fantasy football drafts. So happy 4th of July to all and I hope the fantasy gods bless you with bountiful stashes of herbs and RBI’s. (Please note that pitchers and match-ups may change)
Everett Teaford (@Tor vs Romero, @Det vs Fister) Sounds like a guy I would want selling Butterscotch Krimpets, not throwing two games in one week. I have seriously reconsidered how much I like those Krimpets now that I have written about them. Please, blog, may I have some more?
Ah, we can breathe a little easier, interleague play is finally over. I have never really been a fan of it as it relates to fantasy purposes. Too much who is playing where, and the DH rule makes me miss Ron Blomberg. Please, blog, may I have some more?
Another week older and closer to the all-star game. Where we can look forward to listening to about 600 comments about the waterfall in Kauffman Stadium. We get it, it’s a waterfall in a baseball park; my koi pond has one too but you don’t see them sauntering about with uniforms having a home run derby. Please, blog, may I have some more?
This week looks like a S an M fest for WHIP ratio’s. Most of these guys I wouldn’t give to my ex-girlfriend. Anyways, we must plug along, and I have to write about something. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Please, blog, may I have some more?
Did you ever get flustered to the point where you never know what to say. Well that’s where I am currently. Fantasy baseball is tertiary right now; yea it’s on a a whole third level of importance as I type this. Please, blog, may I have some more?
