Another week of prospecting, another pair of systems to review for your strapping heroes of dynasty and fantasy baseball. I’m speaking of course, of yours truly Warrior Poet Ralph Lifshitz Esq. and Grand Master Michael C. Halpern of Imaginarybrickwall.com. Just in case you’re wondering, the C stands for cunning, don’t ask me, ask Mike. As for the actual show this week, we get the already juiced up Cubs fans more jacked up, as we delve into their impressive farm system. Once we’re done creaming our jeans over Eloy Jimenez, Ian Happ, and Dylan Cease, we move onto the rejuvenated Cincy system. We spend the second half of the show singing the praises of Nick Senzel, Taylor Trammell, Chris Okey, and Amir Garrett. The big news is I admit defeat in my Jesse Winker hate-o-thon, and agree with Halp that he has 2017 breakout written all over him. As for the rest you gotta listen for yourself. Imagine the horror on Michael Halpern’s face when he found out that he was going to have to talk Red Sox Prospects this week with yours truly “The Funk Docta Spot”. Well we back, and we’re talking Sox Prospects, both of the Sox, the Red and the White. Both of the Sox is a euphemism for a whole lot of Red Sox and a like four White Sox guys. No worries, if Mr. Halpern speaks ill of any personal Boston Binkies of mine I’ll cuss him out over on ImaginaryBrickWall. In all seriousness we talk Andrew Benintendi, Yoan Moncada, Michael Kopech, Rafael Devers, and a host of others. On the White Sox side we hit on Zack Collins and contemplate a hypothetical future one-two punch of Zack Burdi and Carson Fulmer in the White Sox pen. After that we fight about politics….No, we don’t it’s a lovefest! It’s the latest edition of the Razzball Fantasy Prospect Podcast. Please, blog, may I have some more?
After a two week hiatus so the Lifshitz clan could take Disneyworld by storm, the Razzball Fantasy Prospect Podcast is back. But wha wha wha wait it gets worse! We’re not gone yet so we’re givin our first…minor league system preview of the season. This week’s episode focuses on the prospect laden Braves system, with a little Orioles and D-Backs talk sprinkled in. So it’s prospects a plenty this week. I mean it’s the top Atlanta Braves Prospects people! There’s a lot of them! It’s a freaking prospect podcast right? Feels like a rhetorical question? Is that rhetorical? Nevermind it’s the Braves-centric latest episode of the Razzball Fantasy Prospect PodcastPlease, blog, may I have some more?
With Fall in full swing many cling to the flavors of the season, dousing their taste buds in pumpkin spice and squash medleys. Yuck! We Prospectors are a different breed, a simple folk, roaming from place to place in search of top up and coming MLB talent. In our search, we take you this week to Arizona, to look in on the talent rich Arizona Fall League. My podcasting companion Michael Halpern of Imaginarybrickwall.com and I, take the trip figuratively and discuss the top names and news makers through the first few weeks. Next year I hear Grey’s going to spring for two all expense paid trips to the Arizona Fall League so we can broadcast live on location. Then again I hear voices. Joking (not joking)… As for the show we drool over Tyler O’Neill, Yoan Moncada, Gleyber Torres, and Eloy Jimenez, then discuss the character that is Michael Kopech. You’ll learn who Ramon Laurenao is, but not the correct pronunciation of his name. We go through all six teams and give you the 411 on all you need to know. It’s Episode 11 of the Fantasy Prospect Podcast. Please, blog, may I have some more?
After a two week hiatus we’re back in the saddle again. This time we brought along a couple of friends to help us, well sort of. This week’s episode is a live mock first year player draft featuring two very knowledgeable prospect hounds in Matt Thompson, lead prospect writer for Friendswithfantasybenefits.com, and the ghost of Razzball’s very own Smokey. The four of us mocked out the first 32 picks on Twitter, so technically it’s not “live”, but not to worry this allowed us to discuss each player in detail. The goal is to get you prepared for your upcoming FYPD drafts this offseason. I know, I know, we’re such givers! Though it’s not all sunshine and Rose wine. Due to technical difficulties we lost out first run-through of the show with Smokey. So, this episode features Halp, Matt, and I trying our damndest to fill the void left behind by our grizzled vet, and to give you the rational behind the LOOGY’s picks. No need to fear prospect hounds, the Razzball Prospect Podcast is back, and stroking the flames of the hot stove all offseason.
P.S. For those following along at home I’ve included the draft results here. Please, blog, may I have some more?
Finally! The finale! Finally finale! As you’ll hear on the Pod, we had some delays getting our wrap-up show recorded, but we finally got together to review the 2016 season! The season that was… The Brewers were awful, Grey steamrolled me with his sheer number of moves in our RCL league, Joe Ross wasn’t that good… Ugh! In our finale, we review all of the league leaders in the standard 5×5 cats, and also break down some of leaders in the indicator stats like BABIP and HR rate from this past season. We then review our Official 2016 Picks, which I think went a lot better for me than Grey! You be the judge! And of course we end the show thanking everyone who helped make 2016 a great season, mainly you, Razzball Nation listeners! Here’s our final edition of the 2016 Razzball Baseball Podcast:Please, blog, may I have some more?
God really doesn’t want us to have nice things as prospectors, so he’s blessed us with his other begotten son, Tim Tebow! That’s right it’s a Tim Tebow-centric pod today, as we open up this week’s show discussing his immaculate connection with a batting practice fastball in instructional ball. Michael Halpern and I have a much longer discussion of The Tebow’s baseball prospects, then either of us ever hoped to have. The conclusion: I think we may have a superstar brewing in the NL East……and his name is Kevin Maitan. (See what I did there?) We talk about the top international signing, since the last top international signing, and where we’ll be ranking him come February. We then run wild with the theme of this week’s show, the Top 10 Prospect Disappointments of 2016. So we spend most of the hour dumping on players we expected to have big seasons. It’s just the level of negativity I thrive in. Hold on tight y’all it’s the latest episode of the Razzball Prospect Podcast. Please, blog, may I have some more?
The Razzball Pod is back, and we open with the somberest of news with the tragic passing of Jose Fernandez and what it meant to the baseball community. But hopefully all of our saddened feelings can be assuaged by remembering why we love fantasy baseball, and thinking ahead of what will come in 2017! On today’s show, we mock the first 3 rounds of the 2017 Fantasy Baseball Draft! As you’d expect, Grey constantly smatters me with “I hate that pick” of which he gets an armageddon of gongs. THE GONG WILL BE HERE FOREVER, GREY! Here’s our latest edition of the Razzball Baseball Podcast, now with more – you guessed it – gongs! Please, blog, may I have some more?
The minor league season is over, so allow your favorite Prospectors to light the hot stove. It’s like an outside fire pit on an autumn night type of stove. You know, hoodies and shorts. We’ll save the pellet stove for the December doldrums, whatever those are. Enough about heating units! This week yours truly, and Michael Halpern of imaginarybrickwall.com kick things off with some Padres talk, as they called up the quartet of Manuel Margot, Hunter Renfroe, Carlos Asuaje, and Austin Hedges. We then touch on top playoff performances from Billy McKinney, Jason Martin, “King of the North” Tyler O’Neill, and Braves pitching prospect Max Fried. We then get into our top 5 sleeper/breakout hitters, and top 5 sleeper/breakout pitchers for 2017. Never mind the bollocks, it’s the latest episode of the Razzball Prospect Podcast. Please, blog, may I have some more?
Turn off your football and stop worrying about the weather getting colder, it’s still baseball time! We’re back with another edition of the Razzball Pod to prepare for the last week-and-a-half of action including Giancarlo Stanton returning to the starting line-up, the hottest hitters in baseball the past two weeks, and where Hanley Ramirez will rank in 2017. Somehow Grey likes the oldies now! But we make up for it projecting where Trea Turner is going to rank as well! Dude is inhuman! We also talk a few pitcher stream options for the next few days, and wrap with your commenter questions. Here’s the latest edition of the Razzball Pod, now with less air conditioning!
