Clay Buchholz went down to Miami and, like most visiting Northeasterns, retired….Marlin batters that is! While his 7-2 record is due to Nova-esque luck and run support vs. year to date performance (5.00+ ERA), this is his 4th straight start of 7+ IP, 2 ER or less, and 6+ K. Maybe there’s some truth to that whole “rediscovered his changeup thing” (and can he share it with Lester?). He’s a must pick up in all leagues for as long as he’s on this roll. Anyway, here’s what else we saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Brian Roberts – The concusstador is back in style going 3-for-4 hitting leadoff. Robert Andino can now wait in his shadow and mutter to himself that if his parents named him Jerry, he’d be such a comedy hit that they’d have to start him. During Roberts’s rehab in Triple-A, he hit around .245 with one homer in 45 ABs and no steals. If he can stay healthy, I expect about the same from him in the majors. For the rest of the season, put his stats at nothing/nada/not so good/bleh/more of the same. If he can get his bleh over .280, his nothing could be better than nothing, but for that he has to stay healthy, which is as likely as me removing my personal mustache groomer from my rider.
Stephen Drew – Played his first nine inning game on Monday in 11 months. Meanwhile, J.D. Drew fashioned a back scratcher out of hundred dollar bills. These Drews are worker bees!
Brandon McCarthy – Headed back to the bay for an MRI on his shoulder. Sounds like he’s going to hit the DL again. A real shame– Wait, does this mean Peacock is called up? Or the Aflac Duck (Graham Godfrey)? Color me intrigued, if it’s Peacock.
Brian Matusz – Was hit in the nose during a bunting drill. This is the worst bunting accident since The Love Boat set decorator hung too much bunting from a loose nail and it fell, knocking Charo out for 45 minutes. Coochie-coochie-kerplunk! Matsuz is said to be fine for his start tonight.
Brandon Morrow – As originally said here after reading it elsewhere, Morrow hit the DL. The injury is the oblique and his timetable to return is obliquer.
Tim Lincecum – Bochy went on Jim Bowden’s radio show (which is recorded while the host rides a Segway) and said Lincecum won’t be skipped or moved to the bullpen. He should’ve also said, “Tim, you look like k.d. lang, but you don’t have to throw like her!” In the podcast that’s coming later today, we go over Lincecum. So more to, well, you know.
Madison Bumgarner – 7 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners, 12 Ks, and he pitchslapped Bud Norris to break the Giants’ 16 game HR-less streak at home. C’mon, Giant hitters, that’s like your sister beating up a bully for you.
Jose Quintana – 5 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 10 baserunners, 4 Ks. Wow, he’s so yawny I can hardly quintana myself. If he ends up replacing Humber in the rotation and you’re in anything but AL-only, listen to Wayne and Garth “He’s not worthy! He’s not worthy!”
Johnny Cueto – 9 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners, 7 Ks, lowering his ERA to 2.46. In the preseason, I thought his 2011 ERA of 2.31 seemed like an aberration. And, obviously, I was using a one time alternate definition of aberration. An aberration to aberration, if you will.
Joey Votto – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 11th homer while batting .357. I should’ve owned him in the RCL instead of Hosmer. Stupid ESPN draft software. I’m still bitter my grandfather Windexed my Greg Luzinski autographed baseball, rendering it illegible, back in 1983. You think I’m gonna let this ESPN draft snafu go?
Giancarlo Stanton – 0-for-4 with 4 Ks. Killing rallies really chaps Ozzie’s hide, so this 4 K night sent Joey Cora on a wild goose chase to find butt balm. “Hello, I’m Joey Cora. My iCal reads, ‘Do what Ozzie says.’”
Alex Gordon – 2-for-4 with his 5th homer. Hard to say if this game is a “Thankfully, he’s back!” or “I thought the 2-for-4 with the homer game was him coming back, but he still hasn’t.”
Ian Kennedy – 5 2/3, 6 ER, 11 baserunners, 4 Ks at Texas. While it’s customary that the home team’s ground crew tailors the field to their advantage, it was still pretty lousy of them to make the mound all grassy and let Oswalt man the radar gun.
Miguel Montero – 1-for-3 with his 2nd homer in as many games. Maybe this will rub off on his religious brother.
Donkeys – The Big Donkey (Adam Dunn) hit his 21st HR, Mini Donkey (Mark Reynolds) hit his 4th HR, and Honorary Donkey, Chris Davis, hit his 11th HR. It’s like the script for a movie entitled, “Wrath of the Three Outcomes” with Jim Thome as General K. Walk Homerton.
Adam Jones – 4-for-5, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 18th homer. Pretty soon Matt Kemp is gonna be Matt Temp and Adam Jones is gonna be Matt Kemp. Then that would make Matt Wieters Andre Ethier and Magic Johnson the owner of the Peter Angelos Dodgers. See, makes perfect sense.
Wei-Yin Chen – Another win takes him to 6-2 with a not so bad 3.68 ERA/1.30 WHIP. When he hits in NL parks, he should play a tape of Michael Buffer saying, “It’s now time for the Wei-Yin.”
Michael Saunders – Got the slam & legs. That’s 7 HRs and 10 SBs – our podcast compadre Nick has had a hard-on for Saunders since April. He really should see a doctor about that.
Brad Lincoln – 4 IP, 4 ER, 10 baserunners, 3 Ks, and he didn’t fare any better than Kennedy.
Jonny Venters – Got charged with all 4 ER on A-Rod’s grand slam. I suppose that’s one way to avoid being used in 85 games again. The HRs allowed (that was his 4th of the year) and crazy BABIP (over .400) are really the only difference vs. his 2010-2011 performance. His K-rate is still insane (11+ K/9) and he still walks a few too many batters (4+ BB/9). Assuming his arm doesn’t fall off, he should be an elite MR for rest of year.
Mike Minor – 7 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners, 4 Ks. Of course he has his best start of the year vs. the Yankees. The few that actually held onto him all this time wouldn’t even start him here.
Jose Bautista – 2-for-2, 2 RBIs and a slam & legs. Pardon me, a Canadian slam and eggs. Oh, you foreigners.
David Murphy – 3-for-5, 2 RBIs and his 6th homer. One of the more yawnstipating names, but when he gets hot, he usually carries that for about a week, which is the Rob Lowe/Demi Moore sequel that’s been in talks for 20 years.
Colby Lewis – Complete game victory at home vs. the D-Backs (9 IP, 1 ER, 8 Ks, 5 baserunners) making it his 3rd straight start with sub-1.00 WHIP. He’s at almost a 1.00 WHIP for the year in 89 innings. The HR balls knock his ERA up to higher-than-xFIP levels but he’s been very good for a guy with a near 200 ADP. Glad that at least someone at the top of this list is making us look smart.
Bryce Harper – 3-for-4 with his 7th homer. Following Joe D’s lead, can Mr. Coffee reach out to Harper. I wanna see a commercial with Harper saying, “I like my coffee like I like my eye black.”
Ryan Zimmerman – 0-for-4. On the positive side, you could be Zimmerman rather than just owning him in fantasy.
Danny Espinosa – 2-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 6th homer. He’s 5 for his last twelve with 4 steals in the last ten games. Okay, we’re not reattaching Italy to Africa here, but it’s something.
Jordany Valdespin – 2-for-5, 4 RBIs and a steal as he saw time at DH. As I said in the past, “He has great speed and some decent power (15 homers, 33 steals last year in Double-A), but I’m not sure the Mets will play him (they should, but not sure they will). Plus, his name sounds like it’s from a Harry Potter Character Name Generator.” And that’s me quoting me! The Mets only played him yesterday because of the DH. Ron Blomberg, “Hey, don’t turn your nose up at that!”
Ike Davis – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 6th homer. It’s a start, but I’d like to see him do it for another few days at least.
Neil Walker – 2-for-5, 3 RBIs and his 4th homer. Damn, I was almost excited about him until I wrote the ’4th homer’ part. Eh, I’ll muster some excitement anyway. He’s batting near .400 over the last ten games with 2 homers and 3 steals. Not hot schlatto, it’s hot schmotato.
Bud Norris – Left in the 4th inning with a left knee sprain. Lucky for fantasy owners, the only disabled list that Bud Norris knows is the 9 hitters in the opposing lineup.
Ben Zobrist – Day-to-day with a bruised hand. He could really use some of that eponymous heat rub but him and his Christian pop singer wife feel it’s an abomination.
Dee Gordon – 3 SBs. That’s now 6 in the last 4 games. His AVG/OBP is still mediocre but it looks like he averted a demotion for now. He’s a solid member of the SAGNOF club even if he keeps irritating Raj Davis by asking for a dollar.
Jeremy Guthrie – 5 IP, 7 ER, and is 3-5 with a 6.91 ERA and 1.75 WHIP through 10 outings. He’s not playable in any format. Jeremy Guthrie is to Fantasy Razzball what Woody Guthrie was to folk music.
Everth Cabrera – 2-for-3 with 3 steals. Need steals? Take an EverCab.
Max Scherzer – 6 IP, 3 ER, 10 baserunners, (5 BBs), 8 Ks. Scherzer is really pushing the limits to see how badly you want Ks.
Shawn Camp – Threw a perfect inning to record his first save. Sveum wasn’t kidding when he said Camp would share closer duties with Russell. The only problem is he said that on May 27th and Camp didn’t record a save until June 11th.
Tony Campana – 2-for-5 with 3 SBs. Now at 21 for the year in 118 ABs (yeah, that’s a 100 SB pace). This guys’ SBs are like bananas or the circle-jerking monkeys that love ‘em – they come in bunches.
Trevor Plouffe – 3-for-5, 3 runs, 3 RBIs and Plouffe goes the dynamite! Seems like Trevor likes interleague play and we’ve got the ploof. In the last 4 games vs. CHC and PHI, he has 7 Runs, 3 HR, 11 RBI. Ride him while he’s hot.
Brandon Moss – The new Oakland A’s 1B (which has been like being the new Spinal Tap drummer) launched two massive HRs in Colorado. Guess that time in the thin-aired PCL this year was good training. He’s been bouncing around the minors ever since his failed audition with the Pirates in 2009. He’s worthy of a flier in deeper leagues (we just won him in our cash league) but expect Schierholtzian power (15 HR/year). Definitely worth streaming in all leagues for the next 2 games in COL.
Ryan Cook – Got his first save of the year @COL with a 2K, 2 baserunner scoreless inning. They say they’re going to closer by committee. They should make Cook the head of the committee and let Balfour and Fuentes take minutes.
Tyler Colvin – 1-for-2 with his 7th homer as he hit in the leadoff spot. Hmm, maybe it wasn’t Fowler, maybe it was just the leadoff spot in Colorado. Can we try Ryan Zimmerman there just to be sure?
Alex Rodriguez – Hit a grand slam to tie Lou Gehrig for the most career grand slams. When asked if being in the same company as The Iron Horse got him pumped, he wholeheartedly agreed. He was subsequently disappointed when he realized he wasn’t in the company of pumping iron whores.

I’m considering offering Kipnis for one of the following closers… Axford, Chapman, Hanranhan or Frieri. Which if any of those closers is a worthy offer for Kipnis? I have Beckham to replace Kipnis. 18 teams thanks
@Giant JJ,
you’ll be sorry .
@Giant JJ, probably one of the $12 salads if you were going to trade saves…
@Giant JJ, Not a good trade…
Lose Frenchy or Fowler for any of Colvin, Plouffe, A Gordon or Saunders? I need to fill-ins while Stubbs and Kemp are out…
@Sam, *two
@Sam, Fowler for Saunders…
ECab over R Davis for steals?
@ruah, i wouldn’t ECab has never been good in the past… R. Davis has more run producing potential…
@ruah, Hold
I saw a link today with quotes from Montgomery Burns and Mitt Romney. The reader was assigned with figuring out which was which.
No more co-posts.
@Terrence Mann, why the hate on the co-posts?
I@Rudy Gamble, I think I concusstador is your term but I can’t tell.
@Terrence Mann, Yeah, that one’s mine. Admittedly not my best. FYI, most of the daily roundup posts are co-posts at some level – they are mostly Grey but a lot of the titles and usually at least a couple jokes/points throughout are mine. It’s only a formal co-post if I submit a significant amount…
Brandon McCarthy is on a personal mission to screw me. Now instead of Jarrod Parker getting a cushy start at home against San Diego he gets bumped up a day to pitch in Mile High hell. So much for salvaging his trade value after getting lit up last start…
@240p, ugh, we have Parker in 15 team. did not need an @COL start. was already banging my head at forgetting to bench Milone for an @COL start in AL-only.
What are we thinking about starting Milone in Coors today?
@Steve, f*** that. per my note on #5, i benched him in one AL-only league and forgot in the other. i’m praying for a 5 IP / 4 ER / 8 baserunner cheap win. kind of like his last start before fuentes sh** the bed.
@Steve, Milone is a big time Home Schooler (0.98 home ERA vs. 6.35 road ERA). I’m benching him on the road – especially Coors.
You need to put a WARNING label on blurbs like Adam Jones’ today. That is just too much at 6:30am. My head hurts.
@stoopid, Ha
Mad-Bum baby the Ks are back! 3 10K+ performances in his last 6 starts. Utter dominance of a poor Houston lineup last night, at SEA next start, could be even better.
@TheNewGuy, Oh yeah
@TheNewGuy,
could be the Seattle Spoilers rear their ugly head .
Reyes/Heyward for Pence/Vargas
Is that too much for Pence?
Thx in advance.
@dsg, I think you’re overpaying.
@dsg, Way overpaying.
Reyes and Pence are about equal, so that leaves Heyward for Vargas…you decide.
Interesting that there was no mention of Belt and his first home run of the year. With Pill sent to AAA, this could mean the beginning of something great!
@Cheese, Only 23 HRs left until Grey fulfills his Belt pre-season prediction. It can still happen. If Belt gets 90% of his cats I buy a round of daquiris for Grey and his friends.
70/24/80/.280/10 (in 500 ABs)
@The Miracles, Quite apt username you got there, think Belt will need some of those.
@The Miracles, Ha… Yeah…
need to add steals in an OPS league. would you drop Matt Adams for Campana, Rajai or Everth?
@schlitzy, I’d go with Rajai.
Wilin rosario or Miguel Montero ROS?
@schlitzy, Montero
Need some pitching this week in my 16 team H2H, especially now it looks like Parker is a bench @ Coors. Pick any you like this week:
Liri @ Cubbies
Ricky-No vs Red Sox
Masterson vs Buccos
Delgado vs O’s
Richard @ homerfree coliseum
@TheNewGuy, Nolasco
Trade Parker for Kennedy?
@TheNewGuy, Jarrod Parker for Ian Kennedy? Yes.
“Ryan Zimmerman – 0-for-4. On the positive side, you could be Zimmerman rather than just owning him in fantasy”
Ryan Zimmerman-$126M-2012-19
I’d take it. Plus then I could hang out with his Uncle Robert.
@BSW, Ha
Trade Santiago Casilla for Anibal Sanchez?
Relievers are: Axford, Huston Street, Frieri, Wilhelmsen, Janssen, Bailey (DL)
Starters: King Felix, Gio, Gallardo, Romero, Diamond, Wandy, Jarrod Parker.
14 team league.
@Marty, looks like a solid trade for you…
10 team 5×5 roto..
Need HRs & SBs equally. My 5OF & 2UT players are: JUpton, Cuddyer, Rios, Presley, Rasmus, Kendrick, ARam & Scott on the bench right now.
Drop any of those guys for EverCab, Espinosa, Moss, or Murphy? I’m leading AVG, RBI, & Runs. In 6th and falling on both HR’s & SB’s.
My 2B/MI’s are Uggla, Andrus, & Altuve so no swapping in Espi or EverCab there..
@stoopid, Scott for Moss for two days…
Ian Stewart called, says wheres his donkey post!
@TheNewGuy, not sure he deserves donkey status at this point. reynolds has sucked as bad as stewart but he has a better track record.
Pick two: D.Gordon, Lowrie, Zobrist
8 Team H2H
@Wilsonian, gordon might be sent to AAA soon…
@beardcrabs, he also has 6 steals in the last 7 days. I doubt he’s going down. It wouldn’t be for the long haul, either. I’m not a big fan of his because he doesn’t do much, but steals be steals.
@Wilsonian, Gordon, Lowrie
Morneau or Boesch?
@BobbyVCard, Morneau
Fair trade?
I give Pierzynski & Matt Harrison
I get Marcum and Montero
@Deadwoods, You win that deal, but it seems fair enough.
@Deadwoods, Marcum side
David Murphy or Presley…or take the wait and see approach with Cody Ross?
@BobbyVCard, Presley.
Doumit or Arencibia?
I own Arencibia, but I’m tiring of his terrible AVG.
@BobbyVCard, JP
Saunders,goldshmidt,hunter for utility postion ROS?
Thanks
@Mike, Hunter
@Mike, Goldshmidt, he’s killing it
@Hooverville, Saunders, he does a little bit of everything (including a surprising 10 steals). How’s that for clarity in answering your question?
@Mike, That is why sometimes you have to trust your gut and just do it. Whatever “IT” is.
@Mike, Goldy
Goldshmidt or Chris Davis ROS?
@Ryan, Goldy
@Grey,
really ?
grey- I got cliff lee for Eithier, no one was biting on all my lance lynn/eithier combos i was shooting out? What do you think? The wins are just unluckiness?
@Tony, you win…
@Tony, Good deal…
Who is the best stash to use at utility when they return?
Howard or Crawford? (H2H keeper league )
Thanks
@Ronkonkoma, Howard
@Ronkonkoma, Are you from Ronkonkoma, NY?
@WhineSpritzer, no not from there. I just use the name from the Urban Dictionary…
Ronkonkoma- a huge alcohol induced crap one takes after an excess period of time of feeling amazing.
Which side:
Tulo/ EverCab or B Phillips/Harper
@TheNewGuy, Harper
@Grey/Rudy – Better SP ‘stache – Cashner or Peacock? Peacock could line up for two starts next week if he takes McCarthy’s spot. Thanks!
@AnotherFalstaff, Peacock. I just don’t believe that Cashner won’t be a hot mess in his first few starts – just like he was with the Cubs.
Enjoyed the Bumgarner blurb. I can’t believe that offense sometimes. They have killed me over the past couple seasons as a Matt Cain owner.
Different cat contributors obviously, but Dexter Fowler or Dayan Viciedo ROS?
@Hot Sauce, Fowler
Jim Thome as General K. That’s funny. What’s funnier is that Reynolds’ nickname is The Sheriff. And what’s even funnier than that is that Reynolds hates it.
@WhineSpritzer, Nah, he’s Mini Donkey…
Everth, JJ, or Theriot at SS until Bonface returns?
@harkrider, JJ…
@harkrider, Depends on needs… Everth for steals…
Any info on Michael Kirkman? He’s starting for Texas v Houston this weekend. Is he streamable in a 12-team h2h league?
@Charles, Nope. Saw him start at Round Rock. He’s just an AAAA pitcher. He’s a marginal streaming candidate in AL-only.
Right now I have Scott Diamond on my roster, but am thinking of picking up Medlin to replace him. Moves are limited in my league and due to injuries, I’ve been blowing through them. Is it worth dropping Diamond for Medlin?
Also, do you know when the Braves plan on calling Medlin up?
Gracias.
@Salty Balty, Don’t use another move yet…
To be fair to Sveum, Russell only has one save since then too, I believe.
@Reubs, Yup
Moustakas or Chris Davis ROS?
@Mr. Rickey, I prefer Moustakas – more assured playing time if he hits a slump.
If you were to re-rank the Shortstops with a healthy Stephen Drew, where would he be placed? Who is he is he better than?
@Dynamite Dan, Alexei
Would u trade Cuddyer for james McDonald?
Need a starter
Thanks
@Ryan, Sure, it’s fair…
Team review: Currently sit in 6th. Dead last in SB’s and avg, and 2nd to last in runs. Have an 8 in RBI and 9 in HR (12 team) Have an 8 or higher in all pitching categories. My team:

Asdrubal, Moose, Freeman, Revere and Saunders are all fairly recent additions. Any moves you would recommend I should make or should I stand pat and let things play out?
WW includes guys like Campana (but it is daily locking lineup so hard to start him), everth, espinoza, aoki, posednik, colvin..
@Grey’s da man!, Still need speed. Move Cruz or Bruce or SP or some combination to land a Bourn or something. Go big.
any thoughts grey?
@Grey’s da man!, I thought Whine gave you good advice… Saunders and Revere are the only new additions that could make a difference, and compared to Bourn with steals and Runs, not as big a difference…
@Grey, Isn’t cruz for bourn a loss for me though? Would it be better to do Bumgarner or Gio for Bourn? btw, I also have Longo on the DL right now..
@Grey’s da man!, Gotcha… Start at Anibal and work up to get Bourn…
Soriano or Saunders…ROS
@AA, Saunders
Saunders vs. Krispie Young rest of season?
@Hooverville, Krispie
Drop Latos to stash Bauer?
@Kubrick, Sure
Great read Grey, i really enjoyed it.
Burnett, Niese, Cahill, Harang, Hughes, Norris. Please rank the first three (middle term).
I would say Niese, Cahill, Burnett…what do you think?
Thanks
@Moscowitz, Rudy your take is appreciated aswell btw
@Moscowitz, i agree with your assessment.
Pick 2 for today:
Yoenis @ COL (Outman)
Harper @ TOR (Drabek)
BJ Upton v NYM (Dickey)
Saunders v SD (Marquis)
@Charles, Yoenis, Harper
@WhineSpritzer, Exactly!
Sit Milone @ COL tomorrow?
@Jon, Oh my yes.
Belt and Minor both showed signs of life yesterday – who is worth rostering/playing again first? Who is more likely to put together a strong second half? (I’m holding both in minor league spots so I’m invested…)
@Jon, Belt
GREY!
Here’s payment up front—(answer to your question a few weeks ago) When the batters steal a save from their closer you can use the term ‘Closer Hoser(s)’. The closer himself had been ‘Closer Hosed’
Which side? 10 team points mixed keeper (currently in 2nd place, behind the guy who has Hernandez; I have Tulo coming off the DL soon:
Hernandez, Encarnacion — HanRam, Uggla
@MetalManic, Gorkys Hernandez? That’s not a good deal for you. Felix Hernandez? Still wouldn’t do it.
@MetalManic, Foreclosed… We have it… Hanley side…
Own any of ECab, Frazier, Chisenhall or Heisey over Adams, Saunders, Fowler, LoMo? (keeper)
@Jon, Everth over Adams for steals, Frazier over Adams for power…

@Ryan, I’d get more for Lee. Don’t see how that deal helps you much.
@WhineSpritzer, Who are some players I should target to get for lee?
@Ryan, I don’t know where your weaknesses are standings-wise but you should be able to get a top-40 bat.
Bautista with the YAHTZEE!
@Heraldo, Ha!
Dunn is on pace for 50+ homers and 120+ RBIs…
Would you still deal straight up for Trout in a 1 year RCL?
@J-Bird, depends, do you want a 50HR/120/.230 guy or a 20HR/45SB/.340 guy?
@WhineSpritzer, Thing is, at the end of the day, neither Dunn is hitting 50 HRs/120RBI nor is Trout stealing 45 bags while hitting .340!
@Moscowitz, Agree about Dunn, but Trout will not only steal 45 bags and hit .340, but he will cure cancer, be my wing man and sprinkle fairy dust on me while I sleep.
@J-Bird, Depends on needs, I’d take Trout…
Got offered (in a 5X5, H2H, 10-man league) Adrian Gonzalez and Felix Hernandez for my Joey Votto and Huston Street.
What do you think?
@Derrick, It’s ok. I’d hold.
@Derrick, could be a good trade, i guess it depends if you have power to spare in case Agon’s power never shows up…
@Derrick, It’s fair… I’d take F-Her if you need SPs…
@Grey, Zito or Worley ROS?
Thanks.
@grey and/or @rudy
Daily lineup questions:
Give Lynn the nod today at home vs. the White Sox?
Pick Two…
Fowler @ Coors v. T. Milone (LHP)
Krispie @ TEX v. Harrison (LHP)
Revere @ home v. Hamels (LHP)
Thanks!
@Ron Swanson’s ‘Stache, Yes on Lynn. Fowler + Krispie.
Any chance Plouffe stays hot and turns into Zobrist 2012? He has First-Round Pedigree!
In other news, I feed all my dogs First-Round Pedigree. Keeps the coats shiny.
@Baron Von Vulturewins, I think he definitely can match Zobrist on power. Zobrist has the advantage on speed and OBP (although Plouffe’s BB rate isn’t too shabby this year at 10%). Wish I picked him up in AL-only when I had the chance.
@Rudy Gamble, I’m hoping you’re right. I picked him up to replace Tulo while he’s out and I think he’s going to stick around for a little while when Tulo returns. Would you take him over Lowrie for the time being, or is that tomato-tomato?
@Wilsonian, At least in Yahoo! Plouffe qualifies at about 14 positions, incl 2B, SS, 3B, OF, ball boy, hot dog vendor, and personal masseuse. That gives him a lot of value as a fill-in.
@Baron Von Vulturewins, and it is a Yahoo! league. So that does give him a boost in value. Especially if he can hit 25 HRs as a fill-in. Can’t beat that in a 16 Team league for a waiver snag due to an injury.
I actually started minor in 2 leagues!
@Chris, Go buy 100 lottery tickets…NOW
@Chris, you are a wild man…
@beardcrabs, No just a hardcore braves fan! I liked his last start and figured what the heck I’ll roll the dice!
@Chris, Well played….
Grey/Rudy
Who you like ROS ?
1) Smoak or Belt
2) JP or Jesus
3) Glass Chipper or Mini Donkey?
Thanks
@BASH, Smoak, Jesus, Mini Donkey
Utility play today: Ichiro vs. Marquis (SD) or Morales @ Eovaldi (LAD)?
@Drexel Hill Dragons, ichiro-san… Eovaldi has been solid lately off the top of my head…
@beardcrabs, Yeah, that’s the way I was leaning. Ichiro usually has boring but productive nights and Marquis has been terrible this season.
@ Grey/Rudy
Do you think Clippard keeps the closer gig when Storen comes back?
Would you hold Viciedo in 12 team 5 x 5 roto or pick up some a different hot bat; other OF: Hunter Pence, Riddick, Krispie, Kendrick, Stubbs.
Thanks!
I think Storen eventually becomes closer again. But if Clippard continues to pitch like this, they might take more time easing Storen back into the role.
@Rudy Gamble, Thanks. I love that you guys respond to questions.
If you have time would you let me know what you think on holding Viciedo for now or picking up some other bum?
@paddytwotimes, depends on who you’re picking up… the tank is streaky…
@paddytwotimes, depends on your league format too. assuming 12 team and short bench (like RCL), i’d hold onto him through this week before making a call.
I’m looking for a SP. Which of these would you give Chris Davis for in a keeper league?
Doubront, Garza, Lynn, YoGa, Morrow, Santana, Hughes, Bailey, Richards
I started with Davis for Gallardo, he countered with Doubront.
@Jon, I’d take Doubront in a keeper. I’d try for Morrow first. Probably take Garza too.
@Grey, what think you?
@Jon, Morrow… But expect him to miss a month… Otherwise, I’d hold Davis…
@Jon,
davis is a stud .
having missed out on gallardo , you should
pass on the rest of those shit-bums .
at the end of the year , davis’ trade value will net you better
than any of those SP’s .
Have been stashing Oswalt, but he’s doing poorly. Drop for Medlen or hold?
@Deadwoods, Doing poorly? He hasn’t pitched in the majors yet…
Chris Davis or goldshmidt for utility ROS?
Goldy
Saunders or Austin Jackson ROS?
@Adam, Austin
How would you rank Wieters, Pierzynski, and Montero the rest of the way? Thanks.
@Timequake, Wieters, Jesus…
@Grey, Oops, should’ve specified that I meant Miguel, not Jesus. That change things? Surely I will be punished for neglecting Our Lord.
Would u still start hunter if u also start trumbo and trout?
Too many on one team?
Done well but thinking of dropping hunter
Thanks
@Mike, I’d start all three…
If YOuklis gets traded and middlebrooks plays full time…
Would u start him over Seager?
Or even start him over goldshmidt at utility position?
@Ryan, Not over Seager right now… Or over Goldy…
Not a particularly exciting trade but which side:
Hellickson
or
Viciendo
Is this close? Or just more addressing needs.
Thanks
@Horse, Hellickson
Another mid-level trade. Which side:
Kelly Johnson
or
Edwin Jackson
Thanks.
@Horse, Jackson
Sorry for all the questions. Last one!
Please pick 1:
Edwin Jackson
Lilly
Diamond
Jamie Garcia
Thanks
@Horse, Edwin…
Is Stauffer coming back at all this season?
@Eddie, Haven’t heard anything
Which side do you like in a keeper league?
Posey, Chris Davis and Cahill for Miguel Montero, Morales and Morrow
@Jon, Posey… It’s fair…
Grey I love you as much as any man can plutonicly love another man with a moustache. But you are wrong about Brian Roberts. For years, I’ve had to play against him in H2H leagues that count Ks against and OBP and triples and he’s always killed me. He’s fast, doesn’t strike out a lot and in any given day you check Stattracker, he’s the guy that if he goes 0-3 still gets you a walk and a run, maybe even a stolen base. He’s pesky and a good role player on a fantasy team. If he’s finally healthy, which he seems to be, he’s worth having as a backup to say the least, maybe even an occasional UTIL spot.
@Hats for Bats, Thank you, I love you too.
14team OBP keeper with TBs as a cat, where i’m in 10th in Runs and have a gaping suck at SS. proposed this deal:
Blanco/Lynn for Jeter/Revere
(i’d then drop my current ‘ss-hole, EverCab, for a streamy sp.)
thumbs up or down? thanks!
@Goose, I’d take Jeter…
@Grey,
does this affect anything? Plouffe is on waivers, comes off tomorrow. I have a claim on him, if I nab him, do you still like this deal? Or is Plouffe good enough to roll with for ROY? i.e., do you like
Plouffe/Lynn/Blanco on my team
or
Jeter/Revere/Random SP X (e.g., Cahill, Burnett, Niese…)
@Goose, Plouffe won’t be good enough for ROY
@Goose, Still Jeter side…
@Grey,
Word, thanks!
What do you think about getting samardzja and frank frank for morrow in keeper league?
@Booya, Morrow side
Thoughts on Viciedo? Not sure what to think of him – enjoyed the hot streak and not sure if he’ll have another one or if I should dump him for another flavor of the week in a H2H 10-team league, OBP, no AVG. Otherwise standard. He’s the only bench spot I’m considering dumping.
@Dudley, I’d dump him depending on options…
WHat leagues you starting Parker in today. NL-only, umm only?
@TheNewGuy, I mean Al-only, stupid interleague (emoticon).
@TheNewGuy, Not sure why you’d start him anywhere…
Starting both Lynn and Peavy in St.Louis tonight?
Yup
Grey-
Would you start Milone @ Col, Miley @ Tex, or neither of them today?
Thanks.
@AA, Neither
would you drop capuano for edwin jackson? or drop parker (after his start against SD this week) for edwin?
@abell, Parker after his SD start…

Grey, whats your thoughts on Altuve in a keeper league? Looking like a B.Roberts in his prime type… Is he going to be someone that will end up as one of my 10 keepers (24th rd cost) or should I happily trade him away to upgrade elsewhere if I also have Seager/Utley to plug at 2B?
(Offer was Bruce/C.J.Wilson for my Beltran/Altuve, been trying to find alternatives)
Grey/Rudy/All,
12 Team H2H 5×5(OBP):
Was offered Adrian Gonzalez and Niese for Gio Gonzalez. I accepted b/c I figure even if AGon doesn’t make a return to form that at least Niese is not a bad parting gift. The league vetoed the trade, and now I’m being offered AGon for Gio straight up. Is AGon too much of a risk at this point in the season? His previous seasons have me thinking otherwise…
My pitching staff FYI:
Gallardo
Bumgarner
Chapman
Casilla
Capuano
McDonald
Valverde
Burnett
Drabek
Holland (DL)
@Ghost of the Purple Porpoise, That’s a ridiculous veto. I wouldn’t do that one for one. I’m also wary of A-Gon (I’ve never owned him) and not too optimistic of a return to old form.
@Ghost of the Purple Porpoise, you need to find a new league if that’s the shit that got vetoed. Fuck I hate vetoes. That’s absolutely ridiculous. How is there collusion in that? I’d quit that league right now, let that team rot, and tell the remaining owners to go fuck themselves.
Oh, and if you decide to stay in the league, don’t deal Gio for AGon straight up.
Saunders or goldshmidt ROS?
Thanks
Drop K Kendrick, Norris, Zambrano or Cahill for Medlen?

Lose Krispie for Trevor Plouffe as it seems like Krispie is rotting away with 3 extra base hits in the last 1.5 months?
I’ve been trying to sell high on Chris Sale since it’s very likely he’ll have an innings cap that could kill his value.
I recently offered a team that is hard up for pitching Sale for Giancarlo…this was probably trying to sell too high.
He countered with Giancarlo and Samarzjia (I dislike him too much to try and correct the spelling) for Sale and Cueto.
Seems like I’m giving up too much, right? I’m in big time need of OPS and R (I’m dead last by a wide margin in those 2 categories despite being decent in HR and RBI).
His other pitchers are Weaver, Halladay, Lester, Kennedy, CJ Lewis, and Wade Miley.
This would leave me with Gallardo, Bumgarner, Aniballz, and Matt Moore as starters.
Any others make it doable or should I just ditch this trade?
@Manute Bologna, If I can include Soriano (reliever) instead of Cueto does it make it doable?
Sure try Soriano and take follow ups to the newest post…
Who should I start?
Blanton @Min (Diamond)
Or
Jarrod Parker @ Col (Alex White)
Blanton
13 team mixed keeper, 6×6 (obp+apps), 9 man benches…
Drop Fuentes for Michael Saunders?
Need OF help. Have Capps, Frieri, Reed, Adams, Marshall, Bailey in pen.
What type of middle infielder should one target when trading a closer like Motte or Broxton in a H2H league?
Thank you
