Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll kick around the idea of a save chaser section for the column. Might not work, since bullpen orders tend to be extremely fluid, and I don’t mind answering the questions anyway. I could highlight a reliever from each team I cover that will help with ratios, though. Or even a few relievers at the end of the column that could be in line for saves or help with Ks/WHIP/ERA.

Saw Papa Grande nailed it down last night, is Benoit still the best of the available (<25%) save chasers? Only other option is the Oakland A's, what the frig is going on there. Balfour worth a shot instead as a 1/3 closer?

It would be cool if we maybe had a list of the most avaiable save chasers (<25% ownership), listed in order to pick them up (probability, skills etc). Maybe in a table form would work, so whenever someones considering cutting a guy they can see if there's anyone better in the table…might save you some questions! Could be called titled 'save vultures'…just a thought!

OK, I’ll answer my own question. I found this quote under the ESPN position eligibility page:

“Before each season begins ESPN will determine the primary position of every MLB player available in the game. The criteria will primarily be the past year’s playing time…. The listed primary positions are fixed and will not change for the duration of the season.”

However, the A’s have a prospect (Sean Doolittle) who they’ve just called up and he is listed as 1B but he an RP. And it looks like he could be the closer for them THIS YEAR. PLEASE can you change his eligibility to RP for this season. He is not going to play 1B again – he is a PITCHER. PLEASE change his status to RP. Thanks!

right now he’s listed as 1B — so he’s on the batter side, not the pitcher side. does he need to make 10 appearances before they make him an RP? 10 starts at a position is what’s needed for them to add that eligibility, but what is the deal for switching from one side of the game to the other?

I can’t stand him, and I’d only replace him with a setup guy that would only get a chance to close a game if the current closer had 3 straight days or gets injured.

I have to imagine that Beane is feverishly trying to unload Fuentes.

Outta all the setup men, is Benoit currently the best hedge for saves? More available ones anyway, not talking the likes of Robertson etc.
