Playoffs? Playoffs?!? I want guys that can perform best in playoff time, which is when H2H leagues are won. In 7 years in my league I've gone a cumulative 2-9 in playoff match ups and I am sick and tired of it. So yes, I could really care less how my guys are going to perform in April if I can expect them to deliver in September.

Grey:

Hawpe by month:

Apr .312/.411/.537
May .288/.359/.494
Jun .285/.369/.517
Jul .279/.378/.472
Aug .279/.380/.505
Sep .235/.349/.420

His August line doesn't exactly agree with your evaluation. His swing otherwise isn't exactly simple, so you need watch some vid of his swing, have it imprinted on your mind, and then when you see his swing is now out of whack and he's going through one of his 1 week to 2 week slumps, he rides your fantasy bench. Then when his swing looks right again, back to fantasy glory.

Lastly, re Brad at Petco, again: .281/.371/.451. He'll work well there, much like AGon, i.e., he shows good power to the opposite field. He says that he likes hitting there, as the background allows him to see the ball well.

For a bonus freebie, I really don't know why Brad gets no love from some. From his MLB.com page:

Seasons in Top 25 of Major Categories
SLG
2006 .515 (20th in NL)
2007 .539 (13th in NL)
2009 .519 (16th in NL)
OBP
2006 .383 (14th in NL)
2007 .387 (13th in NL)
2008 .381 (11th in NL)
2009 .384 (18th in NL)
OPS
2006 .898 (18th in NL)
2007 .926 (12th in NL)
2008 .879 (15th in NL)
2009 .903 (15th in NL)

For another, the power to left, with the Pads broadcast crew guy reporting, "that's almost Adrian Gonzalez like" (as I said above):

http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=5633575

For yet one more, for how I roll in fantasy:

(1) 16 team H to H:

B: R H HR RBI SB K GIDP TB FPCT AVG OBP SLG XBH

C: JMart aka R. Martin
1B: Tex
2B: Tsuyoshi
3B: Zim
SS: Raffy
LF: Gardner
CF: McCutchen
RF: Heyward
3 Util: Freeman, Chipper, Hawpe
5 Bench: Cust, J.D. Drew, Seth Smith, Theriot, M. Izturis.

P: W L CG SHO SV BB K GIDP HLD ERA WHIP PICK QS BSV

5 SP: Buchholz, Hellickson, Kuroda, Bedard, Anibal
4 RP: FRod, Kimbrel, Venters, Kuo
4 P: Gonzo, Peralta, Kenley Jansen, empty
2 Bench: Niemann, McDonald

(2) another 16 team H to H

B: R H 2B HR RBI SF SB BB AVG

C-Barajas
2 1B: Fielder, Helton
2 2B: Pedroia, Tsuyoshi
3B: Alvarez
SS: Starlin
4 OF: Heyward, Stanton, Markakis, Swisher
3 Util: Chipper, Hawpe, Damon
3 Bench: Trumbo, M. Izturis, DeWitt (will be dropping DeWitt shortly)

And now a testimony to knowing the scoring categories and the implication(s) of the same:

P: W SV BB K HLD ERA WHIP K/9 RAPP

2 SP: JP Howell, Takahashi
2 RP: Valverde, FRod
4 P: Kimbrel, Venters, Uehara, Saito
Bench: Chris Young, Travis Wood

The min IP is 7 IP. Chris Young and Travis Wood won't see the active roster. Took them since I'd rather ponder their names riding my fantasy bench than, say, Mitch Maier (who can only serve to drag down the AVG/OBP/SLG should I be tempted to insert him into the active lineup). For those folks in the league who wish to pitch your 5-7 SPs, have at it. You'll get more Ws, but I'll get more RAPP, so that's a wash. You'll get more K's but give up more BB, so that's a wash. Leaving my relief crew to win SV, HLD, ERA, WHIP, and K/9. Remember that there are only 30 teams in MLB, so with 16 teams in the fantasy league, not everyone can even have 2 closers. I've got 3 now, and potentially 4 if JP Howell takes over closing for the Rays following his return in May. If that happens, I've got 4 closers and 4 HLD guys. As we all know, the RPs, the good ones, have a lower ERA and WHIP than most SPs, certainly better than a fantasy staff of 5-7 SPs, and they undoubtedly have the higher K/9 as well. So I'm looking at an entirely possible 5 win advantage a week in pitching. And Chris Young and Travis Wood double up as Monthy Python & The Holy Grail's Sir Not Appearing In This Film.

(3) my only Roto team, 12 team league.

B: R HR RBI SB AVG OPS

C: Santana
1B: Morneau
2B: Cano
3B: Alvarez
SS: Raffy
CI: Chipper
MI: Infante
3 OF: Cruz, Swisher, BJ Upton
2 Util: Freeman, Tabata
2 Bench: L. Scott, Scutaro

P: W SV K HLD ERA WHIP

2 SP: Johnson, Kuroda
2 RP: FRod, Valverde
5 P: Kimbrel, Venters, Adams, Kuo, empty
5 Bench: Bumgarner, Hellickson, Chacin, Bedard, McDonald

(4) For one last one, another 12 team H to H.

B: R 2B 3B HR RBI SB AVG OBP

C: empty
1B: Pujols
2B: Tsuyoshi
3B: Zim
SS: Raffy
3 OF: Heyward, Choo, Swisher
2 Util: Pierre, Morneau
2 Bench: Chipper, Freeman

P: W CG SV K ERA WHIP K/9 QS

3 SP: Gallardo, Latos, Kuroda
2 RP: FRod, Valverde
4 P: Kimbrel, Venters, Farnsworth, empty
8 Bench: Hellickson, Chacin, Anibal, Bedard, Chris Young, McDonald, Pineda, Howell

When JP goes on the DL then I pick up a scrub C. And when JP takes over as closer I shit can Farnsworth.

Ok, so I've got me a few Cincinnati injuries on my 16 team H2H rotation and need to see what I do here.

SP - Lester
SP - Marcum
SP - Gio
RP - Kimbrel
RP - Hanrahan
P - League
P - E. Jackson
BN - Beachy
BN - Cueto
BN - Bailey

Bailey and Cueto are both slated to start the season on the DL, and I only have room for one. Who do I drop Bailey for:

McClellan, Tillman, Arrieta, Harden, Nova, Blanton, Hammel, Leake, Porcello, Narveson, Dice-K, Luebke, Buerhle, Harang, Zito, Wells, Kuo, Soriano, Hensley, Jansen?

I know, shizz options. Standard 5 categories plus losses and Ks/9.

Thanks man.

Hey Razzers,
I wanted to roster 4 RPs until I know more about the Nunez/Hensley scenario - but I need another SP with Morrow aching. Who would you rather drop of Nunez, Lyon and Hanrahan.. I know they are all Brain Freezes but it's pretty bleak for closers out on the market.
Thoughts?

Thanks!

I did not mean to post that message just yet. Anyway that is my team of a 10 man 10x10 with a $500 cap. The guys with numbers before their value were keepers. This is a dynasty league and we must determine our new players "contract lengths" before the season starts. Weiters was also required to keep. I was curious what your thoughts are of my team. Here is my bench.

B. Abreu
J. Bay
