SAN FRANCISCO, April 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Bleacher Report has acquired Razzball.com, one of the fastest growing independent fantasy sports blogs, as announced today by Dave Nemetz, Founder and VP of Strategy. Tout Wars – one of the two most prestigious fantasy baseball expert leagues (along with LABR) – invited Razzball to participate in its inaugural 15-team mixed league online draft (they also have AL-only, NL-only, and 15-team mixed auctions).

The 2013 Tout Wars mixed draft format is very similar to our mixed-league LABR expert league except for one notable quirk – OBP instead of AVG.   Please, blog, may I have some more?

After giving it serious thought last year, I finally took the plunge and signed up for an NFBC league. I figure the worst case is we have someone here at Razzball who is experienced in the format for reader questions. Better case, I really like the format and we consider sponsoring a league or two next year as a complement to the Razzball Commenter Leagues. Best case I win some money and get to brag about it on the site.

This is a post for the fantasy baseball drafters who use Excel, Google Docs, or some other war room software that automatically totals a drafted team’s stats while in the middle of a draft. Or perhaps for those of you who do mock drafts or simulated drafts.

The below grid represents my projected 75% mark in each stat category across 10/12/14/15/16 team ESPN and Yahoo default roster format leagues.

Much like Christmas, the expert fantasy baseball draft season keeps creeping earlier and earlier from arguably the best day of the year.* So ten days post-groundhog, we had our first draft of the year in what happens to be our most well-esteemed expert league – the 15-team mixed league LABR draft (click link for full draft results) run by Steve Gardner of USAToday.com/USA Today Sports Weekly.

* especially if you’re Jewish and Christmas just means Chinese food + going to the movies with the atheists, eastern religioners, and Christian families that can’t manage a whole day at home together as a family).

The majority of fantasy baseball rankings (Grey’s included) are based on a 20 game position eligibility that is used by ESPN, CBSSports, and most other leagues. Yahoo fantasy baseball, however, uses the threshold of 5 games started or 10 games total at a position. If Yahoo was any more liberal in appointing positions, Ulysses S. Grant might rise from the grave and claim copyright infringement.
