Yeah, Cards pen sucks. They have to do something and I think the right thing is Wainwright as closer.

The kicker is, it came down to what we were talking about – a strong closer for the Cards – and Franklin then blew his 5th save.

In fact, I think we should institute some sort of Snowball Rule, whereby every Sunday everyone gets to take one player from another team’s roster. You can never a) raid the same team twice or b) select the same player twice.

Howard, Utley, Reyes, Miggy, Sizemore, Holliday, Harden, Sabathia, and Sheets. Maybe Papelbon.

3rd year of the keeper league. I won it the first year, lost in the finals last year. And have a 7.5 game lead right now.

Ellsbury is killing me right now.. He had a huge month a couple months ago but now he’s not producing at all. I guess since I’m already in first I should just ride out his slump? There’s garbage available..

It’s a keeper league and I traded Crawford, Mussina, and Volquez for Holliday.

So I had too much speed, too little power.. In my OF atleast. Crawford has been underperforming and I’ve had him on my team the past 3 years. Yahoo! keeps insisting he’s going to turn into a 5-tool stud with 25+ homerun power but it doesn’t appear that’ll ever happen.

I think Volquez’s strikeouts are declining and over the last month he has a 5.20 ERA/1.66 WHIP so I figure it’s time to sell high before he completely implodes. Mussina is decent but he was just a throw-in since Crawford/Volquez was initially declined.

I still have Harden, Sabathia, Sheets, Pelfrey, and Bedard/Wang on the DL. So I think I’ll be fine.

You don’t think 3 for 1 for Holliday was too much, do you?

When Jocketty was here they weren’t afraid to make a move, but usually not for top starters.

Dave Duncan seems to work miracles with guys like Wellemeyer, Suppan and Jeff Weaver.

The new regime, John Mozeliak, Bill DeWitt, et al, is trying to build up the farm system.

So no, I don’t think they land a #1 or even #2 pitcher.

But I can dream can’t I?

I’m more intrigued as a Cardinal fan than a fantasy player.

This would fix our bullpen and maybe, just maybe they’d spend some prospects on a starting pitcher and a bat.
