Oh, another thing the author notes: “John Lackey owns a 1.42 lifetime ERA against the Philadelphia Phillies.” It would have been helpful to add that this is from one start IN 2003. The Phillies have changed a bit since then.

Let me rephrase. Who do you see getting the most starts in the next month out of those guys?

You said you’d want Votto, and as the Votto owner, I’ve duly been wavering on pulling the trigger (I think this offer is basically standing).

My question is this: I know Teix’s lineup is an RBI guarantee, but how real is Votto? Is he shaping up to be a top 5 1B for 2011/2012? Or is he just running real well?

I know your time and space is limited in these responses, but I guess I’m just wondering about your thoughts on JV. Are these numbers for real, or should he come down a peg?

In the last week or so managers have used waiver claims to grab Vargas, Sipp, Gavin Floyd, and Kazmir, and aspire-to-be schmohawks like Fowler, Jason Kendall, and Jake Fox start for teams in the top half of the standings. Jim Edmonds and Asdrubal are stashed away on rosters. It’s tough.

In a league like that, is it worth trading Chaucin and Wiggy for Beckett?

I guess the central question is whether you think a reasonable facsimile of the Old Beckett emerges from the DL stint or if the control issues and his sore back are likely to plague him all season.

Would you drop Slowey for Baker?

Is Vazquez worth a flier start against the Mets tomorrow night?

(BTW, if you’re wondering why I’d drop a guy on my active roster, it’s because it’s in is a shallow 10-team, mixed league)

I’m okay w/ that deal, though, cuz Gardner is pretty much Melky w/o the walk-offs…
