@BigFatHippo: Hamels lived through a few horrid starts and was a stud in the second half last year. Better now than later, right? I think Charlie Manuel is an idiot, and one of the worst managers in baseball. They were coasting against Atlanta and were up 5-0 around the 4th or 5th inning. Instead of letting Hamels go 100-110 pitches max, he lets him throw a CG on 120 pitches. He did follow up with a good start against the Nats, and has 2 bad starts since then. Utley (29), Howard (28), and Rollins (29) are all close to 30. I probably read waaaaay too much into this, but Hamels is already shown he is injury-prone, and it looks like they are pushing him hard to win now. He's like a unicorn, nymphomaniac brasilian models, or the apple in the garden of eden. Very tempting, but my head says to worry about a young pitcher with back problems and a heavy workload. Howard (again) and Hamels are both arbitration-eligible this coming offseason. I'm glad I won't have to sign the checks for next year's Phillies team. Cust 'kayin.

The Plot thickens… A day after my Ichiro – Harden/Eveland deal gets vetoed, somebody offers me (yes, offers me) Webb… I have never experienced this in 4 years. I thought it was a joke. I almost rejected it!!! No kidding.

Keeper league, since it seems to be just you and me gotta brag a little.

300 sal cap, kept Bills for 5, Shields for 5, Webb for 18 and Hamels for 15. Drafted Kaz for 20 and stacked my hitters and closers. No other SP drafted.

Currently 10 in Saves also, 10 in Avg, 10 OBP, 10 hitters Ks, 8 SB, 9 R, 8 HR.

Sporting a 24 pt lead in a league I’ve played for 7 years with different winner every year. Never won it, yet.

You guys have had A LOT to do with that, kudos to Razzball and all the commenters.

Wish I could get this excited about work.

@BigFatHippo: Not stupid, might be playing it overly safe, but it's within reason. Webb, Kaz, Bills and Shields are all really solid, so you should be fine.

So anyway,

I basically sent feelers out to every team in my league concerning Vladdy and only one had interest. On that one team, the only SP I would want to acquire/the person would trade is Tim Hudson.

Do I stash Vlad (I have 4 solid outfielders, can afford to trade vlad) and wait for his trade value to go up?

Or do I pull trigger for Hudson seeing as nobody else in out league has interest.

@Rudy Gamble: @Grey: You need to add me to that Middle Relievers Anonymous thing. Brocail is owned and I picked up Downs (on Grey's recommendation) a few weeks ago and he's been great. As I want someone who is SP-eligible (I already have Bell, Broxton, Perez and Mike Gonzalez + closers for the other spots - it's a Holds league), I think I will go for Kuo. My pitching is relievers-only and means I don't log many innings each week. So every scoreless inning (and Kuo gets through plenty of those) can make big difference to ERA and WHIP. He might get me the odd win too, even if there won't be many Holds. Make sense?

@IowaCubs: Agreed. I wouldn't trade Miggy for Atkins. Perhaps if you added two more players of which you got the better end - e.g., Miggy and Hudson for Atkins and Haren.

@Zebo: I have Harang on a lot of teams. I'm starting him. I am concerned though. Hopefully he's put that long relief stint behind him and he can K some Phils. @wakeNbake: Bell, Morrow, Hinshaw... I'd wait on Casilla. MRs are a dime a dozen. You don't want to mess with a MR that has had arm trouble.

@wakeNbake: I guess it depends on league format, but I'd say nah, you don't need to pick him up immediately. Since he's not going right into a closers role, I'm going to watch and see how he looks, first. Last year he was similarly lights-out for his first month, then his ERA went up about 4 full pts.

@JR: He lacks Bowden Fluffer tools. He can't run or field (his new position). But the things he can do, he does very well (at least in the minors). Any guys you get off waivers may be nothing or they may be the thing that wins your championship. He could be a prize or a dud. You need to take fliers for the promise.
