While I doubt I’ll pull off “Pujols for Percival,” I bet I can find a saves-hungry sucker willing to give up Zimmerman or Gordon.

BTW, apropros of nothing, Funston just published his “Bigger Board” over at Yahoo. He’s has Zimmerman #65. I don’t know if you bother to read the competitors, but I have to say, without trying to sound to “suck up”, yours is the one I use for my drafts.

@Ashley: Sanchez’s extra innings and he lost himself so much last half that he worries me. I don’t think on the Giants he’s worth the risk. Of course, he’s talented, but I’d take a pass this year and probably will like him next year.

I offered Markakis, Halladay, Scherzer, and Weaver for Kemp and Billingsley… If it’s accepted I’ll add Parra and Jiminez.

Is there a reason why you like Sanchez the least? He went 8-5, 115 K’s, 3.97 ERA in 111 IP pre-all star break. And was a disaster in the 2nd half.

I read the Matt Berry interview, initially I didn’t because I wasn’t sure if it was real.. He definitely doesn’t have a sense of humor.. I went and read a couple of his article and atleast he seems to love Nolasco =)

But that’s probably not a good thing..

I can get three out of the four. In addition, keep in this is a keeper H2H league and these are my bottom three pitchers (I am looking for upside). I leaning towards Slowey, Cueto, and Weaver. The main reason I have left out Johnson is his WHIP. I understand that Cueto will probably have the same trouble, but his K/9/upside make him worth the risk in my mind.

David(Frisco, TX): Thanks to your earlier post, I became aware of the XX interview. After reading it, it became apparent to me that the ego-maniac running that site is attempting to use the negative pub to garner attention for his efforts. If you read any of his previous work, then it is easy to conclude that he really believes that he is smarter than everyone else. That’s always a sign of stupidity. Also, he has an unhealthy fascination with you and ESPN. It’s obvious that he is jealous of your success. Good. Regardless, kudos to you for remaining profesional in a very unprofessional setting. Whoever posted that question earlier today was either that guy or someone without a clue. Either way, he (it?) didn’t deserve any attention on your board. Now, if XX or whoever thinks you’re God himself then I can understand his anger and resentment. But, you’re just a dude who has worked hard to make the most of your opportunities. And, all you’re really doing is giving us your thoughts as to an inherently unpredictable math problem with a multitude of variables and outside influences. It’s just math or statistical analysis with color commentary. I find it hard to comprehend how anyone can get angry over your predictions. Accordingly, it’s easy to make the necessary conclusions about him(it?). I don’t want you to post this because I do not want XXX to get anymore publicity than he already has. Let’s not reward his bad behavior. I know you don’t need a pat on the back or the affirmations from a stranger to validate your work…but it can’t hurt. Keep up the good job. It’s stuff like this that makes me even more of a fan. I’ll post this a few times to make sure it catches your eye. Have a good one bro.

SportsNation Matthew Berry – Talented Mr. Roto: (8:04 PM ET ) I edited it. Thanks for the kind words. It comes with the gig, what are you gonna do? But I like to be honest and answer questions I can – even if they are about uncomfortable subjects… not a big deal.

Earlier, I was commenting about the hypocrisy that is fantasy “expertise” as touted by ESPN and the like. Berry is but one of a generation of overpaid, overglorified “celebrities” hawking tired strategy and snake oil to the fantasy gaming masses.

For the record, I don’t have any personal animosity toward Berry; I’m just cautiously pessimistic about any corporate-crowned fantasy gurus. I’m sure he doles out some good info; he wouldn’t have a job if he didn’t. It’s just unfortunate that when Berry came into some GENTLE criticism and tomfoolery by the boys here that his response was to bash Razzball and its founders instead of having a sense of humor and remembering that he’s not all that far removed from a blogger himself.

It’s impossible for a site to be everything to everyone and I both envy and don’t envy Mr. Berry’s job at ESPN. He’s talking to a much larger audience that doesn’t necessarily want the snark nor stats that we may produce.

We have nothing personal against Matthew Berry. I’ve read his stuff and, while it’s not my cup of tea, it is fitting for the broad ESPN audience.

I didn’t think our write-up of the interview particularly qualified as an ‘ambush’ and don’t revel in being associated by him as the reason why blogs are awful. But we definitely dish it out here so can’t expect not to get it in return…
