Don't be shellfish...Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterShare on Google+

As always on Saturdays we come to you live and direct with some of the lesser owned two start chaps that may be wandering your waiver wire like a lost kid at the Walgreens.  This week has some tasty options of the buy low variety, and 2 guys that are especially hot and pitching stupid.  Stupid in this case is a good thing, and if I really needed to explain that then, well, stupid does makes sense.  So enjoy this week’s selections of pitchers with that two start persuasion.  (Please note that pitchers and match-ups change.)

Kyle Kendrick (Mia vs LeBlanc, Hou vs Lyles) True story, his porno name would be Sweetums Swampfoot.  Last 5 starts he has been money, 4-1 with an ERA a tick above 1.50, yes that’s a one in front.

Eric Stults  (STL vs Garcia, Col vs White) No word on if Gar is going to show up and prove that the mustache rides, or Grey for that matter. Funny he was also one of Spicoli’s lackies, IMDB is a beautiful thing.   In last 6 starts he is 4-0 with an ERA of 1.62, also a one in front.  P.S. both games are at the PET.  A 6-man rotation is possible and that completely negates any value here unfortunately.

Dan Straily (@LAA vs Haren, Bal vs Gonzalez) Filling in for Brandon McCarthy who looked like he was re-enacting the Buckwheat has been shot video.  Has been covered over and over by many on this site; hit search and don’t be lazy.

Carlos Villanueva (Sea vs Beavan, Bos vs Lester) We come for the K’s Carlos, but the unlimited salad bar and maybe a ride to the top of the CN tower if it’s not too much to ask… it’s for the kids I swear.  Could be a nice target in this season’s free agent market and a possible buy low guy for next year.

Jordan Lyles (CHC vs Volstad, Phi vs Kendrick)  I like this guy, but not in Houston.  Way too hittable for anything outside of NL-only. Anyone else think that his name sounds like the captain of the cheerleading squad.

Wily Peralta (Atl vs Minor, NYM vs Hefner) The rookie has some control issues but also gives you a career minor league K/9 above 8.  The Brewers are a mixed bag, and by bag I mean a knock off purse straight from Canal Street.

Alex Cobb (@Bal vs Gonzalez, @NYY vs Kuroda) Larry David should have asked this guy who invented that salad he was looking for.  Groundball machine versus a high K club and a struggling offensive line-up, easy to foresee him going 1-1 with a ERA of 4 for the week.

Sam Deduno (Cle vs Masterson, CHW vs TBD)  This guy is here because of an echo, that and the schedule always changes.  Can’t help it, I don’t control everything.  It is never a good thing when your K’s practically are a mirror image of your BB’s amigo.

Wade LeBlanc  (@Phi vs Kendrick, Cin vs Latos) Remember that movie where he was a a baseball player and they had an orangutan playing third, yeah, to tell ya the truth, me either.

picked up kendrick (dropping detwiler) yesterday during my playoff bye. also re-signed michael young (after dropping him for h kendrick), allowing me some versatiliy with him and howie both having multiple position eligibility (which i need because kubel & victorino like to suck/sit often of late). thinking of dropping javier lopez for straily, but that spot could also be used to stream up to 5 SP (max moves next week). the guy i’ll likely play has 10 SP and 0 RP. I have Papelbon, Clippard, Romo & Lopez. Thoughts?

PS. the brewers are on fire and the cards can’t score any runs all of a sudden.

I know this site is all about the jokes…but I don’t think joking about Brandon McCarthy is appropriate at the moment. What happened did not look “funny” in the slightest. It was quite horrible. I’m sure Erick Aybar, for one, would agree with me. Maybe when McCarthy’s life is out of danger, then there might be appropriate jokes. But I think that Buckwheat comment is disappointing to see on this website.

Trying to maximize 2-starters in second week of a 2-week H2H points playoff matchup (1 pt per out, -2 pts per ER), please pick rank the top three options for me:

Hector Santiago (vs. KC today, @ Min Fri)
Jarrod Parker (@LAA Mon, vs. Bal Sat)
Alex Cobb (@Bal Tue, @ NYY Sun)
Dan Straily (@LAA Tue, vs. Bal Sun)
Ricky Nolasco (@ Wash today, vs. Cin Fri/Sat)
Carlos Villanueva (@Bos today, vs. Bos Fri)

And two possible options that are maybe 2-starts, but it could be a risk if I’m looking for 2 starts (correct me if I’m wrong):

Eric Stults (vs. STL Mon, vs. COL sun maybe)
Patrick Corbin (@SD today, vs. SF Sun maybe)

@nick m., Nolasco, Villanueva, Cobb and Straily would be my top 4. Stults prolly gets shut out for the second start or I would pick him over Straily. Good luck

Quick note: Since Romero was scratched a few days ago (and then Happ got an ouch so Romero started Saturday, anyway) Villanueva started today (Sunday) and isn’t a 2 start this week. I think the Padres are on a 6 man rotation, so Stults may only have one start.

@Carnac, Cobb’s start has been moved to Wednesday (so no 2nd from him this week, ethier).

Yeah, someone mentioned that about Stults earlier in the weekend, that sucks…
