Would keeping either one of these guys be more valuable than keeping Aaron Hill for $9? If so, which one? Is Moustakas going to get starting gig out of the gate? What’s his upside? Is he the next Longo?

Quick question: If I wanted to advertise openings in leagues I am running, is there an appropriate place on the site to do that? I am looking for experienced and knowledgeable owners, so I figured this site would be the best place to find them. Thanks in advance, and keep up the good work!

@Joel: The strike outs for hitters definitely adds up, but generally I think you hope for that and focus on other stats, using high strike out rates as a tiebreaker. I think HRA is similar. Use it as a tie breaker. Somewhat you can move up certain players, but it wouldn’t change the tiers much because higher tiers will get you more in the other stats.

Sorry, I know I’ve been on this Espinosa crap all day. I’ve been on the road and have been trying to catch up on my leagues via cellphone only for the past week. So many apologies.

I’m new to FBB. Been doing FF for years,and Doc is my go-to expert. Love this site.

My league is a head to head, with 6 categories of hitting (HR, Avg, OPS, SB, RBI, and least strike-outs) and 6 pitching (W, ERA, WHIP, SV, Ks, least hrs allowed). whoever wins the most categories for the week wins.

My questions are: does this format make stud pitchers more valuable? What round should I target for my first pitcher in this format? THANKS!

Like i said, Im pretty psyched. Hopefully I can get a somewhat similar version of this during next weeks auction.
Thoughts….

I am in a 10 team daily H2H with 1 Catcher and 5 bench spots.

I was thinking about using my last two rounds on Catcher. I could platoon 2 catchers (Ianetta, Salty, Martin) and try to kepp one in every day. Most catchers only get 350ish at bats. This would hopefully get me 550+ and keep me getting stats from catcher on a daily basis. I would get extra maybe 10 HR and 20-30 R/RBI and turn a catcher position into similar to a top tier one catcher without the draft pick.

Do you think I am better doing this or getting an 8th SP, or even an alternate power hitter for my OF4 or Util2 and get extra power if I am already winning steals later in a week?

I didn’t see you mention Brandon Belt. can you forecast him this yr now or June and long term upside if any please sir. I’m in a 16 team h2h 3 keeper league. Loney is my only 1b that is why i ask. thx

All rivalries are based on childish antics. I grew up in the middle of the UT-Texas A&M rivalry, where A&M hired an architect (who happened to have graduated from UT, unbeknown to his new employers) to build them a new building, he made it, it was wonderful, and then when it rained the first time, it turned burnt orange because of the stone he used (and cost them millions to replace). Just because it’s SF doesn’t mean it’s above participating in childish antics related to an in-division rivalry.

I don’t think a bit of trash-talking with an in-division rival will necessarily lead to punching teammates.

I don’t know what that Giant fan is whining about anyways. Who CARES if Latos writes “I hate SF” on a baseball? What’s wrong with having a little passion? Don’t we want these baseball players to hate the opposition more and stop being so damn neutral (since players move around so much with free agency)?

And all of this is moot as far as fantasy is concerned. Is Mat Latos a quality pitcher and do you think he’ll have a good year? If yes, draft him. If no, sit on your hands when his name comes up.

I don’t care if he’s not a Mother Teresa clone. All I care about is whether he can help my fantasy team (see, I’ve got my priorities straight!)!
