Yeah, I was light on speed - hence the flier on Lopez. I have confidence in Carpenter to go 150 innings. Bedard is my risk, but i got him at 15th rd, so....

Is Nolasco really that risky? I have been so high on him, what am I missing?

@Falcon: What, you couldn't figure how to work Villanueva into the ol' team? You really punted speed, huh? I like the late round flier on Lopez a lot. Also like the grab of Teahen. Lackey's going to the DL (or already is) until May, then you have Bedard who is an injury risk and Nolasco who is in the same boat and Carpenter. Guess what I'm saying is your pitching is very risky. I've seen better, but you have a team that you can work with.

Grey, I am in a 12 man H2H fest. Mixed league is the game, and I used a lot of your rankings to inform my draft.

So what mistakes did I make?

Round Pick Player Position
1. (8) Ryan Braun OF
2. (17) Carlos Beltrán OF
3. (32) Carlos Lee OF
4. (41) Adrián González 1B
5. (56) Dan Haren SP
6. (65) Dan Uggla 2B
7. (80) Corey Hart OF
8. (89) John Lackey SP
9. (104) James Shields SP
10. (113) J.J. Hardy SS
11. (128) Ricky Nolasco SP
12. (137) Matt Capps RP
13. (152) Chris Carpenter SP
14. (161) Chad Qualls RP
15. (176) Erik Bedard SP
16. (185) Jim Thome Util
17. (200) Kelly Shoppach C
18. (209) Troy Percival RP
19. (224) Troy Glaus 3B
20. (233) Daniel Murphy OF
21. (248) Felipe López 2B,3B,SS,OF

I was in two or three spots where I took a guy i didnt really want. Hart (i thought this was a steal), JJ Hardy (based on having experienced his slumps personally), and Jim Thome (who i took because i noticed that power was becoming a commodity.) also, I was disappointed in my 3B options, and wished I had taken one earlier. I now have Teahen to replace Glaus on the DL. At least I may get to trade him high as a 2B if he tears it up in April.

Anyway, looking forward to some jabs in the ribs about featuring most of the Milwaukee offense. ::hugs::

I gotta find someone to play C for me while Clement's proving himself once more in the minors. Options are: Yadier Molina, Johjima, Laird, Olivo, Baker, and Zaun. I think I have to go with Johjima. Who's with me?

Last post, drop Jose Lopez for Motte right now? He seems like the last solid RP who can get the closer role come opening day. Whoever had Marmol might be looking for a new closer right about now

Just saw yahoo update Morrow

"And what about using Morrow as the closer? "I'd rather not comment on that right now," general manager Jack Zduriencik said. The Mariners still see him as a future starter, though."

@Grey: So your sayin to start out with Peavy & Beckett starting and pickup another closer. Who would I drop J Lopez? Guess thats fine in a 10-team league. I'll wait another few days after news is out and I'll ask again which one to pickup, with the possibility of Morrow now...so devine, hanrahan, jenks & drop j lop.

@Freak: Agreed. And there seems to be a growing consensus among saberheads that using your best reliever as a closer -- or, at least, as a LaRussian one IP, three-out, bases empty closer -- isn't the best use of that asset. (For example, the suggestion that the Royals should pitch Soria more -- bringing him in for the 8th or even one out in the 7th, then let him pitch 2 or 2+ IP.)

But in this kind of set up, Gregg makes more sense as the door slammer. That's why I passed on Marmol and took him in my draft late. That said, he's unspectacular, I hated how he pitched in Miami last year and so I have to put him on my Most Likely To Implode List.
